HONG KONG,March 12, 2025/PRNewswire/ -- Hong Kong Green Finance Association (HKGFA) today launched the onlineTransition Planning Knowledge Repository (TPKR)(https://www.hkgreenfinance.org/transition-planning-repository/), providing industry practitioners with a toolkit of resources to help develop best-practice transition plans and facilitate access to necessary transition finance to support their net-zero goals.
The TPKR is an ongoing initiative of the Transition Planning workstream under the HKGFA Banking – Financing the Transition Working Group. The TPKR consists of 5 principles, 4 core pillars, and 27 major components covering the essential elements required to develop a sound transition plan, with reference to the key components proposed by major tools and frameworks underpinning similar overarching elements, such as Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), and the UK Transition Plan Taskforce. Additionally, the TPKR collates case studies and guidelines from HKGFA members and the broader sustainable finance ecosystem, serving as practical references for those initiating their transition journey.
Dr.Ma Jun, Chairman and President of HKGFA, said,"The launch of the TPKR is a pivotal moment for HKGFA and transition finance as we proudly present a much-needed tool to support financial institutions, asset managers, and corporates on their transition journeys. It collates a public archive of the key components necessary for a robust and credible transition plan, extracted from major frameworks and guidelines worldwide, thereby enabling innovative financing solutions and enhancing interoperability of taxonomies. I would like to express my appreciation to the HKGFA Banking Working Group and our members for their hard work and dedication to the development of the TPKR, and for their continued efforts in affirmingHong Kong'sposition as a global sustainable finance hub for a more resilient future."
As the co-leader of the HKGFA Transition Planning workstream and Head of ESG Solutions, APAC at Mizuho Bank, Ms.Ivy Lau, added,"A 1.5°C world will not be possible without the private sectors'climate ambition, action, and capital. HKGFA's TPKR is designed for corporates and financial institutions inHong Kongand the wider APAC region to facilitate their navigation of myriad climate transition resources and accelerate their formulation of credible transition plans, which is the pre-requisite for a quantum leap in transition finance."
Many corporates and SMEs today face challenges posed by climate change and require considerable financial capital to achieve net-zero transition and effective risk mitigation. Having a well-structured transition plan is a crucial step to help them highlight areas for investment, that may be facilitated by financial institutions.
"Knowledge sharing is a powerful driver for progress in the transition to a net-zero economy. The launch of the TPKR provides finance professionals, corporates, and SMEs with the resources they need to make greater progress towards their transition priorities.", said Ms.Alice Suen, HSBC Hong Kong's Head of Sustainable Finance and Investments and Co-Chair of HKGFA Banking – Financing the Transition Working Group.
