Taiwan Delegation at 2025 APAIE in India: Boosting Taiwan-India Higher Education Ties

TAIPEI,March 27, 2025/PRNewswire/ -- The 2025 Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Conference began onMarch 24inDelhi, Indiaand will run throughMarch 28.Taiwan'sdelegation, organized by the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education ofTaiwan(FICHET), is led by FICHET Chairperson and Distinguished Prof. Cheng-Chih Wu, and includes 44 representatives from 15 Taiwan universities. The delegation seeks to highlightTaiwan'sstrengths as a technology hub and to attract more international talent to study inTaiwan. Representative H.E. Baushuan Ger of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center inIndia, along with Assistant RepresentativeJen Chun Tsai, Director of the Education Division PetersLi Ying Chen, and ManagerTeresa Wengof the Taipei Trade Center Liaison Office inNew Delhi, extend their greetings to the representatives and assist in expanding opportunities for academic and research cooperation.

To further deepen higher education cooperation betweenTaiwanandIndia, nearly 70 university leaders fromTaiwanandIndiawill attend the"2025 Taiwan-India Higher Education Leaders Forum"onMarch 26at the India Habitat Centre inDelhi. In 2010, FICHET and Association of Indian Universities (AIU) signed the first MOU to enhance academic exchange and partnership, and agreement now entering its third renewal period. The forum will focus on semiconductor technology and SDGs cooperation, with Representative Ger from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center inIndiaattending to witness the continued strengthening ofTaiwan-Indiaeducational collaboration.

According toTaiwan'sMinistry of Education, over 100,000 students from theAsia-Pacificregion studied inTaiwanin 2024, accounting for 87% of all international students, with over 2,500 coming fromIndiaeach year. Through its recruitment and retention programs for international students,Taiwanpromotes educational exchanges and talent mobility across theAsia-Pacific, aiming to strengthen multilateral collaborations, attract more international students, and address the talent needs ofTaiwan'sindustries.
