UNESCO-listed celebration to anchorThailand'sGrand Tourism and Sports Year; position the Kingdom among the top 10 global festival destinations
BANGKOK,April 3, 2025/PRNewswire/ -- The Tourism Authority ofThailand(TAT), under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, is preparing for theMaha Songkran World Water Festival 2025— the headline event ofThailand'sNew Year celebrations and a key feature of theAmazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025and theThailand Summer Festivals'Grand Festivitycampaign.

With this year's festival, we aim to share our cultural richness with the world while encouraging travellers to explore every corner of Thailand, from major cities to hidden gems."
Taking place from11–15 AprilatSanam Luang, Bangkok, the festival highlightsThailand'sglobal festival ambitions, building on the recent listing of'Songkran inThailand, traditional Thai New Year festival'as aUNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
A key feature is theMaha Songkran Parade, with eight themed processions showcasing Thai creativity and heritage. On12 April at 17.00 Hrs., the parade travels fromDemocracy Monument toSanam Luang. A second procession circlesSanam Luangon13 April, followed by float displays through15 April.
Sanam Luangwill also host a multi-zone experience featuring:
Nightly concerts will feature leading Thai artists includingBodyslam, Polycat,Jeff Satur, The Toys, Joey Boy, andCarabao.

TAT is also rolling out aMaha Songkran World Water Festival 2025 web appwith real-time updates, maps, and performance schedules.
To support sustainable tourism, the event will featureGCYOU-TURN, a plastic recycling and upcycling initiative to help manage waste responsibly.
For safety and convenience, theTourist Police Bureauwill provide24-hour support in eight languages. TheThailand Tourist Police mobile appincludes anSOS button,GPS location sharing, and direct access to emergency services.
Nationwide, the"Yen Tua La Maha Songkran"series will run across April in destinations includingChiang Mai,Khon Kaen, Lampang, andAyutthaya, with added support from major private events likeS2O,GCircuit, andICONSIAM's Maha Songkran.
TAT projects26.5 billion Bahtin tourism revenue from12–16 April, with over476,000 international arrivalsand4.4 million domestic trips.
