TWICE’s MISAMO Release First Full-Length Japanese Album ‘PLAY’

TWICE’s Japan-based unit MISAMO has officially released its first full-length Japanese album, ‘PLAY,’ marking a major milestone in the unit’s evolving musical narrative.

Composed of Mina, Sana, and Momo, MISAMO unveiled ‘PLAY’ at midnight on February 4. The album serves as the final chapter of a trilogy that began with their debut mini album ‘Masterpiece’ in July 2023 and continued with ‘HAUTE COUTURE’ in November 2024.

A Theatrical Concept That Completes a Trilogy

‘PLAY’ is built around themes of art and theater, presenting a refined yet dramatic soundscape that reflects the unit’s distinct identity. The album balances classical elegance with modern pop sensibilities, reinforcing MISAMO’s positioning as a unit focused on performance driven storytelling.

The record features 12 tracks, led by the title song ‘Confetti.’ Other songs include ‘Hmm,’ ‘Not a Goodbye,’ ‘Deep Eden,’ ‘Red Diamond,’ and ‘Catch My Eye,’ along with solo tracks from each member: Momo’s ‘Kitty,’ Sana’s ‘Ma Cherry,’ and Mina’s ‘Turning Tables.’ Previously released unit tracks such as ‘Identity,’ ‘Do Not Touch,’ and ‘Message’ are also included.

‘Confetti’ Delivers an Uplifting Message

The title track ‘Confetti’ draws from big band and jazz influences, delivering an upbeat tempo paired with a message about embracing life’s unpredictability. Framed around the idea that life unfolds like an unscripted play, the song encourages listeners to find joy and resilience even when plans fall apart.

The music video for ‘Confetti,’ which was pre-released on January 16, further amplified interest with its musical style choreography and stage inspired visuals, highlighting the trio’s chemistry and expressive performance style.

Continued Recognition in Japan

Since their official unit debut, MISAMO has steadily built a strong presence in Japan. On January 30, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced that ‘NEW LOOK,’ a track from their second mini album, surpassed 100 million cumulative streams as of December 2025, earning a Platinum streaming certification.

The song is a reinterpretation of Namie Amuro’s iconic ‘NEW LOOK,’ reimagined through MISAMO’s own musical lens and widely praised by local listeners.

Global Activities Continue with TWICE World Tour

Beyond unit activities, MISAMO continues to connect with fans worldwide as part of TWICE’s sixth world tour, ‘THIS IS FOR.’ The group is currently performing across 20 North American cities, with a total of 35 shows.

In April, TWICE will make history as the first overseas artist to hold a solo concert at Japan’s National Stadium in Tokyo. The three scheduled shows, each accommodating approximately 80,000 attendees, are expected to draw a combined audience of nearly 240,000, marking another significant chapter in the group’s global career.
