Actor Park Jung-min has finally addressed the attention surrounding his much discussed stage appearance with singer Hwasa and his explanation was far more down to earth than fans expected.

Appearing on the YouTube channel Chungju City on February 3, Park spoke candidly about the viral moment that followed his joint performance with Hwasa at last year’s Blue Dragon Film Awards. While the performance sparked online buzz for its intense, almost cinematic eye contact, Park revealed that the reality behind the moment was surprisingly simple.
During the relaxed conversation with host Chungju Man, Park was asked directly about the now-famous scene in which he appeared to gaze tenderly at Hwasa during her performance. The moment quickly became a talking point online, with fans interpreting it as a romantic, melodrama like exchange.
Park laughed off the speculation, explaining that he had no idea the camera was focused on him at the time. “I didn’t know I was being filmed,” he said. “I just noticed she was barefoot and thought, ‘Her feet must be cold.’ That’s honestly all it was.”
He added that the award show stage marked only the second time he had met Hwasa in person, following the filming of her music video. According to Park, there was no hidden meaning behind the moment just a fleeting, human reaction that happened to be caught on camera.

The conversation then took an even more unexpected turn when Park was asked whether he and Hwasa had stayed in touch after the performance, which had gone on to generate both buzz and commercial success. Park responded with a grin, saying, “Hwasa seems to find me a bit intimidating.” The comment drew laughter in the studio, especially when Chungju Man jokingly suggested it might be because she was worried he would ask her to buy him a meal. Park played along, adding, “Maybe she’s doing it on purpose.”
Rather than confirming any off-stage closeness, Park’s remarks painted a picture of two professionals who shared a memorable moment on stage but remained respectful and somewhat distant afterward.
The joint performance took place during the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards at Seoul’s KBS Hall, where Park appeared as a guest performer during Hwasa’s stage for her song ‘Good Goodbye.’ The contrast between the performance’s emotional intensity and Park’s understated explanation later only added to public interest.
Online reactions at the time ranged from playful speculation to renewed admiration for Park, with some fans dubbing the phenomenon “Park Jung-min fever.” His recent comments, however, gently reframed the narrative, grounding it in everyday perspective rather than romantic fantasy.
