Kim Young-ok has shared a surprisingly honest and very relatable piece of advice she wishes she could give her younger self.
On February 4, a new video titled “Dindin Visits Grandma’s House Bickering Like Family Over a Meal, Kim Young-ok’s Yukgaejang Recipe” was uploaded to Kim Young-ok’s YouTube channel. The episode featured rapper and entertainer DinDin as a guest, joining the veteran actress for a home-cooked meal and a warm, humorous conversation.

During their chat about age and life, DinDin asked Kim Young-ok what she would do if she could return to being 36 years old. She immediately fired back with her trademark wit, joking, “Who asks such a ridiculous question?” sending both of them into laughter.
But moments later, she offered a sincere reflection.
Kim Young-ok said that if she could speak to her younger self, she would tell her:
“You’re just getting started. You might think you’ve done a lot, but this is only the beginning.”
Her words carried the weight of decades spent on screen and in life a reminder that growth doesn’t stop, no matter how far you think you’ve come.

Then came the advice that resonated with viewers of all ages.
Kim Young-ok admitted she wishes she had spent less money on clothes and accessories.
“Buy fewer clothes. You don’t need that many. A few pieces that really suit you are enough,” she said, laughing as she confessed she had spent far too much on fashion in the past.
She added that although she didn’t like looking sloppy, the excess now feels unnecessary in hindsight.
DinDin playfully responded that she might have had a bit of a material desire, prompting another round of laughter.
From sharp humor to honest regret, Kim Young-ok’s reflections felt less like celebrity talk and more like advice from a grandmother everyone wishes they had practical, warm, and quietly profound.
At 88, her words weren’t about fame or success, but about simplicity, perspective, and realizing that life keeps unfolding long after you think it’s peaked.
