Why Fans Across Generations Are Calling G-Dragon Korea’s True “National Singer”

From teenagers discovering him for the first time to longtime fans who grew up with BIGBANG, G-Dragon proved once again why his name still carries unmatched weight in Korean pop culture.

A Fan Meeting That Brought 40,000 Voices Together

According to his agency Galaxy Corporation, G-Dragon successfully wrapped up his first-ever solo fan meeting, “2026 G-DRAGON ‘FAM’ MEETING [FAM+ILY : FAMILY : FAM I LOVE YOU],” held from February 6–8 at Seoul’s KSPO Dome. Over three days, nearly 40,000 fans filled the venue, turning the event into far more than a standard fan gathering.

Rather than a traditional concert, the event was designed as an intimate “family meeting,” emphasizing conversation, eye contact, and emotional connection between artist and fans.

The Numbers That Prove His Cross-Generational Power

What truly set this fan meeting apart was its remarkably balanced audience makeup. Ticketing data revealed that:

  • Teens accounted for 10.3%
  • Fans in their 20s made up 31.5%
  • Those in their 30s led with 36%
  • Fans in their 40s represented 16.7%
  • Fans in their 50s still showed strong support at 4.8%

With 10s and 20s alone making up over 42% of ticket buyers, the data highlights how G-Dragon continues to attract new generations, even two decades after debut.

Galaxy Corporation described the scene as “a rare moment where fans from completely different generations stood under one name, singing the same songs and sharing the same memories.”

A Stage Built for Connection, Not Distance

Instead of relying on large-scale spectacle, G-Dragon opted for a 360-degree open stage, carefully designed walkways, and constant interaction. The structure allowed him to meet fans’ eyes, move freely through the space, and blur the line between artist and audience.

The MC for the event was YouTuber Mimiminu, a self-professed longtime fan, whose easy rapport and playful exchanges with G-Dragon helped create a relaxed, almost home-like atmosphere.

Music Was Just the Beginning

While performances of tracks like “Who You?”, “TAKE ME,” and songs from his third full album Übermensch thrilled the crowd, the emotional core of the event lay in conversation. G-Dragon shared old photos, answered pre-submitted fan questions on the spot, and openly reflected on his journey.

Fans repeatedly chanted his real name, Kwon Ji-yong, turning the venue into a space that felt less like a stadium and more like a shared memory.

A World Only G-Dragon Could Create

From the moment fans arrived, the experience was immersive. The venue exterior transformed into a “Daisy Garden,” and even small details, like daisy-stamped walnut snacks given out before entry, reflected G-Dragon’s signature aesthetic and storytelling.

Every element was designed to feel personal, intentional, and unmistakably his.

“This Year, BIGBANG Will Return”

During the fan meeting, G-Dragon delivered the announcement fans had been waiting for: BIGBANG will officially make a comeback in 2026 to mark their 20th anniversary.

“I’m looking forward to it both as a member and as a fan,” he shared. “Please rest for a bit and wait for us as spring comes.”

With upcoming fan meetings scheduled in Yokohama and Bangkok, and a group comeback on the horizon, G-Dragon’s next chapter is already underway.

Still the Standard, After 20 Years

Two decades after his debut, G-Dragon isn’t simply living off legacy. He’s actively building new connections, welcoming new fans, and redefining what longevity in K-pop looks like.

For many, the conclusion is clear: G-Dragon is no longer just an icon of a generation—he’s an artist who belongs to all of them.
