Park Min-young reveals extreme transformation for Siren’s Kiss: “I drank 3L of water a day instead of eating”

Actress Park Min-young shared the intense preparation behind her dramatic new role in tvN’s upcoming series Siren’s Kiss (세이렌), revealing a striking physical and emotional transformation to portray the character’s fragile psychology.

A bold return with her first fatal, genre-driven role

During the online production presentation held on February 23, Park Min-young appeared alongside director Kim Cheol-kyu and co-stars Wi Ha-joon and Kim Jung-hyun to talk about her comeback project following Marry My Husband.

She admitted that taking on Siren’s Kiss was not an easy decision.

“People joke that I’m ‘tvN’s daughter,’ but it wasn’t about the network. I was drawn to the script for a long time. I’ve never played a fatal, genre-heavy role before, so I wondered if I could really express this woman’s psychology. I actually turned it down at first, but then decided to challenge myself.”

“At home there was only water and alcohol”

To fully embody her character Han Seol-a, Park Min-young adopted an extreme routine that reflected the character’s emotional state.

Han Seol-a is a woman surrounded by tragedy who:

  • barely eats
  • suffers from panic disorder
  • appears perfectly professional in public
  • lives in deep loneliness in private

To match that reality, the actress revealed:

  • she kept only water and alcohol at home
  • drank 3 liters of water daily during filming
  • stopped drinking water immediately after the shoot ended

This method helped create the character’s sharp and gaunt silhouette, enhancing the visual storytelling.

“I thought gaining weight would feel wrong for the role. I think it was the right choice because it showed her shape and sharpness.”

A story of suspicion, death, and irresistible attraction

Siren’s Kiss follows a man who begins to investigate a series of deaths surrounding a woman suspected of insurance fraud — a figure with a dangerous and inescapable charm.

The drama blends:

  • psychological tension
  • mystery
  • fatal attraction

marking a new genre territory for Park Min-young.
