Super Junior member Shindong shared deeply personal stories about his family during the latest episode of the Disney+ variety show Fortune War 49, drawing sympathy from viewers with his candid confession about estrangement from his parents and past financial hardship.

A reading that led to unexpected revelations

Episode 8 of the program, released on February 25, featured the remaining six fortune tellers giving one-on-one readings to celebrity guests. Shindong received a consultation from fortune teller Seolhwa, who immediately brought up the presence of a shaman in his family.

It was later revealed that his paternal grandmother had indeed been a shaman, surprising both the cast and the audience. The reading continued with comments about inherited spiritual energy and his natural path as a performer, reinforcing the idea that singing and dancing are the roles best suited to him.

The show also recalled a past moment when Shindong warned a girl group to “be careful,” after which dating news involving the group broke, adding to the mystique surrounding his intuition.
