Shin Ye-eun Confirmed as Sole Lead for Action-Fantasy Drama The Queen of High School

Actress Shin Ye-eun is set to take center stage in the upcoming drama Queen of High School, taking on her first full one-top lead role since her debut.

According to industry insiders on February 26, Shin has been cast as the main character in the series, which is based on the hit Naver webtoon of the same title.

A reincarnated Joseon queen in a modern high school

Queen of High School tells the story of Kim Cheong-ha, a Joseon-era queen and the kingdom’s greatest swordswoman, who is reborn in the body of present-day high school student Park Da-jin. Armed with her past-life martial arts skills, she delivers satisfying justice against school bullies, blending action, fantasy, and romance.

The drama will retain the webtoon’s fast-paced “cathartic action” while expanding its romance and timeline that moves between historical and modern settings.

Studio Dragon previously confirmed that the project is being developed as a large-scale IP in collaboration with CJ ENM, with plans to expand into films and animation.

A major career milestone for Shin Ye-eun

This project marks Shin Ye-eun’s first time carrying a drama as the sole lead, placing her at the heart of the narrative. She is expected to portray both the charismatic Joseon queen and the modern high school student, showcasing a wide acting spectrum that includes action, emotional depth, and character duality.

Shin Ye-eun has built a strong reputation through diverse roles in The Glory, Revenge of Others, The Secret Romantic Guesthouse, Jeongnyeon, A Hundred Memories, and Takryu. She also won Best New Actress at the Blue Dragon Series Awards, establishing herself as a next-generation leading actress.

With the ENA drama Doctor Sumboy also awaiting release, expectations are high for her continued rise.
