A New Role as “Teacher Tae-ri”

On February 22, tvN’s new variety program ‘After School with Tae-ri’ premiered, showcasing Kim Tae-ri’s transformation into a rookie teacher.

In the show, she leads a small school’s theater club composed of 17 students in a school with only 18 total pupils. Navigating unfamiliar territory, Kim approaches the experience with sincerity and dedication. Though occasionally awkward, her willingness to learn and improve has resonated with viewers.

Her honest and unpolished moments on screen have highlighted a different side of the actress — one grounded in effort rather than perfection.

Commitment Beyond Acting

Kim Tae-ri’s variety debut follows a pattern seen throughout her career: embracing unfamiliar spaces and fully committing to them.

For the drama ‘Jeongnyeon,’ she portrayed a musical prodigy in the world of female gukgeuk (traditional Korean opera). To convincingly embody the role, she trained in pansori for three years, mastering vocal techniques, dialect delivery, and choreography. The result earned critical acclaim and strong ratings.

In the animated film ‘The Star We Need,’ Kim took on voice acting, carefully crafting her character through detailed vocal control and emotional precision. She participated closely in the production process, bringing depth to her portrayal of an aspiring astronaut.

Growth Through Challenge

Whether on stage, in a recording booth, or now in a classroom setting, Kim Tae-ri’s strength lies in her commitment to growth.

Her willingness to step into new roles and embrace imperfection in the process continues to expand her artistic range. Rather than remaining within a fixed image, she consistently seeks transformation.

‘After School with Tae-ri’ airs every Sunday at 7:40 p.m. KST, offering viewers another glimpse into the actress’s evolving journey.
