Kyuhyun has added another meaningful milestone to his career, winning the Wannabe Icon Artist award at the Hanteo Music Awards as he celebrates his 20th debut anniversary.
The Super Junior member and solo vocalist received the honor at the 33rd Hanteo Music Awards 2025, held at KSPO Dome in Seoul on February 15. The award recognizes artists who have become role models for newer generations, highlighting Kyuhyun’s long-term influence in K-pop and musical theater.
Reflecting on his career, Kyuhyun shared that it felt like he had been “running forward since debuting with Super Junior’s ‘U’ in 2006.”
He dedicated the award to his group members and fans, known as ELF, emphasizing that the achievement was something they built together over two decades. Standing on the same stage with younger artists, he said, was an honor in itself and a reminder of how far he has come.

Kyuhyun once again proved why he is considered one of Korea’s top ballad vocalists.
He performed “Like the First Snow” from his EP The Classic, accompanied by a live string orchestra. The stage delivered an emotional, winter-like atmosphere and showcased his signature control, clarity and storytelling.
He also sang his iconic solo debut track “At Gwanghwamun,” a song that remains one of the most recognizable Korean ballads among global listeners. The performance connected his past and present, reinforcing his identity as an artist whose voice defines a genre.

Beyond music charts, Kyuhyun continues to expand his presence in musical theater.
He is currently starring as Light Yagami in the musical Death Note in Seoul, where his detailed acting and powerful vocals have received strong reviews. His portrayal captures the character’s shifting emotions between justice and madness, proving his range as a stage performer.
The production runs through May 10, extending his influence from K-pop to the theater scene.

With this award, Kyuhyun is not just celebrating an anniversary. He is being recognized as an artist who represents consistency, growth and artistic credibility across multiple fields.
From Super Junior’s global impact to timeless solo ballads and major musical roles, his 20-year career shows why he remains a standard for younger idols and vocalists.
As K-pop continues to evolve, Kyuhyun’s journey stands as a rare example of longevity built on live performance, musical depth and a strong connection with fans.
