BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is stepping into one of the biggest acting moments of her career and according to her some of the first people eager to watch the show are actually her fellow BLACKPINK members.

K-dramas have never been more popular globally. From worldwide phenomena like ‘Squid Game’ to critically praised series like ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines,’ Korean storytelling continues to attract millions of viewers across streaming platforms.
Into that wave arrives ‘Boyfriend On Demand,’ a 10 episode Netflix series released on March 6, 2026.
The story follows Seo Mi-rae, a burnt out webtoon producer who feels she has no time left for love. Instead of dating in real life, she signs up for a virtual reality subscription service called Boyfriend On Demand, where users can experience customized romantic scenarios with different partners.
The twist?
While exploring these fantasy relationships, Mi-rae also finds herself clashing and slowly connecting with her workplace rival Park Kyeong-nam, played by Seo In-guk. The series blends several beloved K-drama tropes, including enemies to lovers tension, nostalgic romance, and emotional slow burn relationships.
During a recent interview with Refinery29, Jisoo revealed that her BLACKPINK bandmates have been closely following the project. When the main trailer was released, she said the members immediately started teasing her about it.
“They were like, ‘Oh my God, you did this. You did that,’” Jisoo said, laughing.
According to her, the members were so curious that they even asked if they could watch the show before its official release. But Jisoo had a simple response.
“I told them, ‘No, you have to watch it on Netflix on March 6.’”
The playful moment offered fans a glimpse into the group’s supportive friendship behind the scenes.

For Jisoo, balancing life as both a global pop star and an actress is not as complicated as it might seem. While the two careers appear very different on the surface, she says the emotional energy behind them is surprisingly similar.
“Music and acting could be seen as two very different things,” Jisoo explained.
“But I think they’re similar in many ways. I try to put the same amount of energy into everything I do.”
That approach has helped her navigate a career that now includes music, film, television, and global brand collaborations.

One of the key themes of ‘Boyfriend On Demand’ is slow burn romance a storytelling style where relationships develop gradually rather than through instant confessions. Jisoo believes this is exactly why many viewers may connect with the show.
“Most love is a slow burn,” she said.
“Not a lot of people just directly confess their feelings. It usually happens step by step.”
The drama also touches on themes of self reflection and personal growth. When asked what advice she would give her 20 year old self, Jisoo admitted that she used to live a much more structured life.
“Back then, I had a more controlled mindset,” she said.
“I would like to tell my younger self to step out of the box, try new things, and not be afraid of change.”

Finally, Jisoo shared her thoughts on the growing popularity of Korean dramas around the world. She believes the appeal comes from something simple: curiosity about other cultures.
“People are entertained by experiencing other cultures through K-dramas and K-pop,” she explained.
That cultural exchange, she says, works both ways with audiences in Korea also enjoying stories from around the world.
With “Boyfriend On Demand” now streaming on Netflix, the drama represents another important step in Jisoo’s evolving career. And if the excitement from both fans and her own bandmates is any indication, plenty of viewers are already pressing play.
