From prince to gladiator, Park Bo-gum begins filming his new historical film and his role is one no one has seen him play before. The upcoming historical action film “Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf” promises a mix of epic storytelling, battle scenes and lots of drama.

Park Bo-gum new movie has centered a particular character, a warrior who lost his memory. After the collapes of Goguryeo, Chilseong is forced to fight in the arena for life as a slave gladiator. However, Chilsong’s destiny is more than what it seems. As the story unfolds, Chilseong gradually confronts both his forgotten identity and the violent world surrounding him.
The film also features a powerful star cast.
The international cast also includes Vietnamese actor Tran Thanh as Tang dynasty general Xue Rengui, alongside Kim Jae-cheol, Choi Gwi-hwa, and Park Myung-hoon in key supporting roles.

The project is drawing interest not only for its cast but also for its director. Kim Han-min is widely known for directing major historical hits including “The Admiral: Roaring Currents,” which remains one of the highest-grossing films in Korean cinema history. His return with another epic historical story has raised expectations that “Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf” could deliver similarly large-scale action and dramatic storytelling.
For Park Bo-gum, the film also represents a notable transformation. The actor is known for romantic dramas and warm characters, making his role as a memory lost gladiator surviving brutal combat arenas a striking shift in tone.
Following the start of filming earlier this month, “Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf” is currently in production and is expected to premiere next year.
As shooting continues, fans are watching closely to see how Park Bo-gum’s new role will reshape his image and whether the film will become one of the next major historical epics in Korean cinema.
