WOODZ debuted at just 19 years old, but only two years later he had to unexpectedly halt his activities. Looking back, he admitted that the sudden disruption left him struggling mentally.

He explained that during that time he was extremely hard on himself, questioning how he would overcome the situation. The pressure eventually pushed him into a state where he felt emotionally empty.

“I felt like I had nothing left inside—just a shell,” he said.
“I even had thoughts like, ‘If I disappear, the world would keep going anyway.’”

A Devastating Call From His Mother

While he was already going through a difficult period, WOODZ received news that would change his life forever.

He recalled getting a phone call from his mother and immediately sensing that something was wrong before he even answered.

According to the singer, she told him:

“Seung-youn, don’t be surprised when you hear this. Your father passed away.”

The sudden loss came as a shock, especially since his father had been living abroad at the time.

WOODZ revealed that his father passed away in the Philippines, and to this day he does not know the exact cause of death.

After the tragedy, he traveled there and faced the painful responsibility of handling everything himself. He explained that his father was cremated locally, and he personally carried the urn back to Korea.

Before returning home, he visited several places in the Philippines that his father had once loved.
