Acts of generosity from celebrities often draw attention. But when those actions are connected to a story that reflects real-life struggles, they resonate even more with fans.
Actor Park Shin Hye has donated 100 million won (about $75,000) to support single-parent families, according to international relief organization Hope Friend Korea Food for the Hungry (KFHI).
The donation will be used to provide financial and emotional support to families raising children alone, including assistance for living expenses and childcare.
Park Shin Hye’s decision was closely tied to her recent acting project.
According to her agency, the inspiration came from her role in the tvN drama “Undercover Miss Hong.” While portraying the character Hong Geumbo, Park Shin Hye reportedly developed a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by single-parent households.
Her team explained that the actress strongly related to the realities shown in the drama.
They added that she wanted to send warmth and support to families experiencing difficulties, similar to the characters Misuk (played by Kang Chae Young) and Bomi (played by Kim Se Ah) in the series.

After the donation was announced, many fans praised the actress for her long history of charity work.
Some fans wrote online:
For longtime fans, the news felt consistent with the image she has built over the years.

Park Shin Hye has been involved in charitable work for more than a decade.
She first partnered with Hope Friend Korea Food for the Hungry in 2011, later becoming an official ambassador for the organization.
Since then, she has participated in multiple global charity projects.
One of the most notable initiatives is the “Starlight Angel Project,” which she launched with fans and her agency in 2012.
Through the project, she helped build multi-purpose educational centers called “Shin Hye Centers” in Ghana (2012) and the Philippines (2016) to support children’s education.
More recently, she also contributed to programs helping vulnerable families in Korea with winter heating costs.
In an industry where charitable donations sometimes appear as one-time gestures, Park Shin Hye’s approach stands out for its consistency.
Rather than focusing on a single campaign, she has continued supporting both domestic and international causes over the years.
For many fans, that long-term commitment is what makes each new act of giving feel meaningful.
And with her latest donation inspired by a drama role, the moment once again shows how stories on screen can sometimes lead to real-world change.
