NMIXX Announce ‘Heavy Serenade’ Comeback, Hinting at a Dramatic New Era

NMIXX are officially gearing up for their next comeback.

The group will return on May 11 with their fifth mini album, Heavy Serenade, marking their first new release in about seven months since “Blue Valentine” in October last year.

The announcement arrived alongside a newly unveiled promotional scheduler image, which immediately gave fans a sense of the album’s mood. True to the title Heavy Serenade, the teaser featured visual elements tied to music notation, including a staff, treble clef, notes, and dynamic markings, hinting at a concept built around sound, performance, and dramatic musicality.

A comeback rollout already taking shape

NMIXX are set to build anticipation through a full-scale promotional campaign in the weeks leading up to the release.

The rollout will begin on April 21 with the album trailer, followed by a motion poster, a dedicated website, a highlight medley, and other teaser content. The group will also release new music before the full album drops. On April 28, two weeks ahead of the comeback, NMIXX will unveil the music video for “Crescendo,” giving listeners an early preview of the new era.

Additional teaser content for the title track of the same name, including music video teasers and the full music video, will be released in sequence. On the day of the comeback, the group will also hold a countdown live event with fans.

Coming off a year of major growth

This comeback arrives after a strong run for NMIXX in 2025.

The group released two albums last year, with their first full-length album marking a new career high. They reached No. 1 on major Korean music platforms and earned 10 music show trophies, further strengthening their position in the market.

Their recent work also drew positive attention from international media. Outlets including Billboard, Teen Vogue, and NME highlighted both their full-length album and fourth mini album, praising the group’s musical quality and artistic growth.

Expanding their global presence

NMIXX’s momentum has not been limited to album promotions.

Alongside their music releases, the group also launched their first world tour, Episode 1: Zero Frontier. Their Incheon concert sold out, and they successfully completed tour stops across Europe and North America. The agency also noted that NMIXX appeared at Brazil Carnival, underscoring the group’s growing international profile.

With Heavy Serenade, NMIXX now appear ready to build on that momentum and push even further as one of K-pop’s rising girl groups.

Another early stage before the comeback

Before the album release, fans will get one more preview.

On April 24, NMIXX will perform the album track “Superior” for the first time at Eve Festa, the eve event for LCK Roadshow: T1 Homeground.

With a new mini album, a carefully staged teaser rollout, and another pre-release already lined up, NMIXX’s May comeback is shaping up to be one of the group’s biggest moments yet.

Editor’s Insight

What makes this comeback feel especially important is that NMIXX are no longer returning as a group still trying to prove they belong. After a year of chart success, music show wins, strong reviews from overseas media, and a first world tour, Heavy Serenade arrives at a moment when expectations around them have clearly changed. That is why even the earliest teaser details matter. The comeback is not being read as just another release, but as the next test of how far NMIXX can push their identity now that the industry is watching them as a group with real momentum.
