2NE1’s 17th anniversary became unexpectedly emotional for fans this weekend. On May 17, Sandara Park uploaded new photos to social media celebrating the legendary group’s debut anniversary with the caption:
“Happy 17th Anniversary~!!!”
But what immediately captured attention online was not just the celebration itself. It was the fact that all four members Sandara Park, CL, Minzy, and Park Bom appeared together smiling in the same photo.

The reunion images quickly spread across Korean and international social media because they arrived after months of rumors surrounding Park Bom and alleged tensions between members.
Earlier this year, Park Bom drew attention after posting and later deleting controversial comments online tied to past public discussions. As the situation escalated, online speculation about possible conflict within the group also intensified. At one point, fans noticed changes in the members’ social media following lists, fueling widespread “unfollow rumors” and theories about strained relationships.
Sandara Park later publicly defended Park Bom while expressing concern for her well-being, but the atmosphere surrounding the group still felt uncertain to many fans.
That is why the new anniversary photos felt especially meaningful.
In the newly shared photos, the members posed closely together wearing coordinated black leather styling while making playful expressions for the camera.
Minzy also uploaded the same image separately with the message: “Happy 17th Anniversary to us.”
For longtime Blackjacks, the photos carried a sense of relief as much as celebration. Rather than focusing on rumors or tension, fans quickly shifted attention toward the group’s history, legacy, and survival after years of uncertainty. Many online comments described the images as “healing,” while others admitted they did not expect to see a full-group update this naturally again so soon.

Since debuting in 2009, 2NE1 helped define an entire era of K-pop through hits like “Fire,” “I Don’t Care,” and “I Am The Best.”
The group became known for breaking traditional girl-group expectations at the time through louder concepts, bold fashion, powerful performances, and a more rebellious image. Even after officially disbanding in 2016, their influence never fully disappeared. And when news of a reunion emerged nearly eight years later, fan reactions showed just how emotionally attached audiences still remain to the group.
For many second-generation K-pop fans, 2NE1 represents a generation of artists whose friendships, struggles, and survival felt deeply personal to audiences who grew up alongside them. That is why even a single group photo can instantly become major news.
Because for fans, the image was not only about nostalgia.
It felt like proof that despite everything controversies, distance, rumors, and time 2NE1 still exists as “2NE1.”
