BTS Breaks Another Billboard Record as ‘SWIM’ Becomes 2026’s Biggest Global Hit So Far

BTS continues proving why their full-group return has become one of the defining music events of 2026.

According to the latest Billboard charts dated May 23, BTS’s title track ‘SWIM’ from their fifth studio album ‘ARIRANG’ remained at No. 1 on Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. chart, marking the group’s sixth total week at No. 1 this year.

With that achievement, BTS officially became the artist with the most No. 1 placements on the chart in 2026, surpassing Taylor Swift.

‘SWIM’ Continues Massive Global Momentum

The momentum surrounding ‘SWIM’ continues to grow globally. The song also held steady at No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 chart for a third straight week, while all 13 vocal tracks from the ‘ARIRANG’ album simultaneously remained on both global Billboard charts for eight consecutive weeks. The consistency of those numbers is further reinforcing the scale of BTS’s current international reach.

The album itself continues showing remarkable longevity in the United States as well. ‘ARIRANG’ ranked No. 8 on the Billboard 200 this week, extending BTS’s Top 10 streak to eight weeks in a row. The album additionally performed strongly across Billboard’s sales and streaming categories, maintaining positions on Top Album Sales, Top Streaming Albums, and Vinyl Albums charts simultaneously.

Meanwhile, ‘SWIM’ also continues holding its position on the Billboard Hot 100, ranking No. 34 and marking its eighth consecutive week on the chart. The track’s performance has extended beyond streaming alone, appearing across multiple American radio rankings including Pop Airplay, Adult Contemporary, Adult Pop Airplay, and Radio Songs.

BTS Is Dominating Beyond Streaming

Based on Wikipicky’s analysis, one of the most significant aspects of BTS’s current success is that the group is no longer relying solely on fandom-driven streaming power. Their ability to sustain strong radio airplay and mainstream public engagement in the U.S. market reflects a level of crossover longevity that very few global artists currently maintain.

Rather than fading after their military hiatus, BTS appears to have returned even larger balancing fandom support with broad public recognition worldwide.

The ‘ARIRANG’ Era Keeps Expanding

BTS is currently in the middle of its ‘ARIRANG’ North American stadium tour, which has already become one of the most talked-about global tours of the year. The group recently made history as the first Korean act to headline Stanford Stadium in the United States, with upcoming performances scheduled in Las Vegas beginning May 23 local time.

The group’s global visibility is expected to grow even further this summer. In July, BTS will join Madonna and Shakira as co-headliners for the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final halftime show during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, another milestone that further positions the group at the center of worldwide pop culture.

Why This BTS Comeback Feels Different

BTS originally released ‘ARIRANG’ on March 20 as their first full-group comeback following military service. Since then, the era has evolved into something much larger than a standard album cycle. BTS is currently dominating nearly every major area of the global music industry at the same time streaming, physical album sales, touring, radio airplay, and worldwide cultural visibility.

And with ‘SWIM’ still holding massive momentum globally, many fans believe BTS’s biggest achievement of 2026 may still be ahead.
