The legendary K-pop group Super Junior is expanding its musical universe with a highly anticipated brand-new sub-unit. On July 1, 2026, SM Entertainment officially announced that the group’s iconic 1983-born members, Leeteuk and Kim Heechul, have teamed up to form the official duo Super Junior-83z. The powerhouse unit will make their grand debut on July 13, 2026, with the release of their very first mini-album, titled 너를 위한 약속 (Promise).

The launch of Super Junior-83z has sent shockwaves of excitement through the global K-pop community. Named after their shared birth year, the 42-year-old veterans first teased their unit debut and upcoming international fancon tour back in April, instantly grabbing the attention of long-time fans.
Known for having completely opposite yet beautifully complementary personalities—with Leeteuk anchoring the group as the ultimate organized leader and Kim Heechul ruling variety television as the witty, free spirit—the duo promises to showcase a mature and entirely new side to their artistic chemistry.
The debut mini-album features six distinct tracks that showcase the duo’s mature vocal spectrum. Leading the project is the emotional title track “Promise”, alongside the deeply sentimental b-side track “ONSAEMIRO” (온새미로).

“ONSAEMIRO” has already generated massive buzz online, as the duo previously performed the emotional track as a special surprise during Super Junior’s recent massive 20th-anniversary world tour encore stadium shows, leaving fans eager for the official studio version.
To celebrate their historic unit debut alongside their dedicated fandom (E.L.F.), Super Junior-83z will immediately embark on a massive, high-profile international fan-concert tour titled “1983.” The duo will travel across the continent to connect closely with global fans, with confirmed arena dates lined up in 9 major cities: Seoul, Tokyo, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Kaohsiung, Singapore, and Taipei.
Having dominated the K-pop industry for over two decades, the grand debut of Super Junior-83z is set to prove once again that their musical journey is far from over. The mini-album Promise will drop on all global music streaming platforms on July 13, 2026.
