NewJeans announced their return as a four-member group consisting of Minji, Hani, Haerin, and Hyelin to mark their 4th debut anniversary. Daniel, who left the team, posted on social media on the 22nd, saying, ″Life can sometimes become blurry, but the light eventually returns. Keep shining until then.″ On the 4th debut anniversary at midnight, NewJeans released a special video titled ″2026 Summer of NewJeans″ through social media and their YouTube channel. They then surprised fans by unveiling group photos and videos of the four-member lineup, signaling their official comeback. NewJeans began independent activities in November 2024 after requesting contract termination but temporarily suspended activities following a contract validity confirmation ruling on October 30 of last year. Since then, the members have decided to return to their original agency. In December of last year, ADOR held Daniel responsible for leaving the team and notified her of contract termination; a lawsuit is currently underway.
