BTS RM, from music to art... establishing itself as a creative powerhouse

RM, the leader of BTS, continues to actively engage in various musical endeavors based on his diverse musical abilities and artistic passion. Starting with his solo mixtapes ’RM’ and ’mono.’ released in 2015 and 2018 respectively, RM presented his solo full-length album ’Indigo’ in 2022, and this year, 2024, he unveiled a new full-length album titled ’Right Place, Wrong Person,’ showcasing a wide range of musical styles that cross genres. Since BTS’s debut in 2014, the group’s 10 full-length albums have also achieved high sales worldwide, establishing them as a definitive global representative artist of K-pop. In particular, RM is recognized as a creative powerhouse with deep interest and expertise not only in music but also in the broader field of art. He is well known for writing profound lyrics inspired by various art genres and possesses an extensive private collection that spans both contemporary and traditional Korean art. Recently, he has been involved in planning an exhibition with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) scheduled for late 2026, serving as a bridge connecting Korean artists with Western artists. His musical experimental spirit and philosophical approach also shine through collaborations with artists from around the world. RM has expanded musical boundaries by working with artists across diverse genres such as Erykah Badu, Anderson Paak, Lil Nas X, and Mahalia. Additionally, RM has demonstrated his influence in various fields by appearing on the fashion and culture talk program ’Fashion Neurosis,’ where he discussed art, music, and leadership with British designer Bella Freud. The program is set to premiere on July 22, generating anticipation among fans. Recently released SNS photos capture a natural image of RM lying down in a blue shirt against a soft cushion background, smiling brightly, revealing his comfortable yet warm charm. Meanwhile, RM and BTS are actively communicating with fans worldwide through their world tour ’ARIRANG’ this year. RM has established his own new studio, ’Rkive Yongsan,’ within the HYBE new headquarters to accelerate his creative activities, and he showcases a unique fashion sense by using vintage-designed T-shirts as stage outfits during this tour. RM is opening new horizons in Korean popular music and art by actively engaging in music activities and art projects both individually and with BTS members. His diverse future endeavors are expected to attract much attention.
