'Hope' ranks first at the box office for 7 consecutive days... surpasses 2.4 million cumulative viewers, setting this year's highest opening record

The film ″Hope″ (directed by Na Hong-jin) has continued its box office success by ranking number one for seven consecutive days since its release. According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system, ″Hope″ attracted 128,902 viewers on the 21st, bringing its total audience to 2,401,626. On its opening day, the 15th, it drew 333,988 viewers, achieving the highest opening score among films released this year. It then surpassed 1 million viewers on the third day and 2 million viewers on the fifth day, setting the shortest record for this year. It is also showing high seat occupancy rates in various formats such as SCREENX and 4DX. In the first week of release, SCREENX and 4DX each recorded nearly 40% seat occupancy, while the combined format theaters showed close to 50% occupancy. Boogang Il, Head of Content Business at CJ 4DPLEX, stated, ″’Hope’ maximizes the strengths of SCREENX and 4DX with its vast natural landscapes and thrilling action scenes, providing audiences with a differentiated viewing experience.″ ″Hope″ tells the story of Beom-seok (played by Hwang Jung-min), the head of the Hopo Port branch located in the Demilitarized Zone, who hears news of a tiger sighting from local youths, leading to an emergency in the village. The cast includes Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell, and Cameron Britton. Meanwhile, the second place at the box office is ″Minions & Monsters″ (directed by Pierre Coffin), which attracted 18,765 viewers, bringing its total audience to 410,348. ″Moana″ (directed by Thomas Kail) ranked third with 12,634 viewers, ″Pupil″ (directed by Yeom Ji-ho) was fourth with 12,345 viewers, and ″Toy Story 5″ (directed by Andrew Stanton and McKenna Harris) took fifth place with 8,400 viewers.
