Sandara Park reveals 10 years of silence about immigrating to the Philippines... Confesses experiences of teasing over her pronunciation and sign language

Sandara Park appeared on ’Yoon Do-hyun’s Guitar Etc.’ and shared her experiences during her immigration period in the Philippines. In the video released on July 24, Sandara Park revealed that she immigrated to the Philippines when she was in the 4th grade of elementary school, at the age of 10. She said she spent an important period of her life there. Regarding the adaptation process, Sandara Park mentioned that her shy personality was even more severe when she was young. She explained that she barely spoke for about 10 years because she could not speak either English or Filipino. She also shared that she developed trauma from being teased by friends because of her pronunciation. Sandara Park said that once a teacher communicated with her using sign language, to the point where the teacher thought she was a child who could not speak. She added that after school, she spent time listening to music at home or watching ’Inkigayo’ borrowed from a Korean video room.
