CORTIS Selected as Billboard's 'Under 21 Leader'... The Only K-pop Group and Rapidly Rising on the Charts

CORTIS will take the stage at Lollapalooza Chicago held at Grant Park in Chicago, USA, on the 1st (local time). The five-member male idol group under Big Hit Music, which debuted last August, has been included in the lineup of the world’s largest outdoor music festival. CORTIS was also included in Billboard’s ″21 Under 21″ list announced on July 31 (local time) this year. Selected alongside HYBE global group KATSEYE and JYP Entertainment’s U.S.-localized girl group GIRLSET, CORTIS is the only K-pop boy group to make the list this year. Billboard described CORTIS as ″one of the fastest-growing pop groups on the Billboard charts.″ CORTIS’s achievements are also reflected in numbers. Their debut album, COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES, reached number 15 on the Billboard 200, the main Billboard album chart, and their second mini-album, GREENGREEN, released in May this year, entered the same chart at number 3. The title track of GREENGREEN, ″REDRED,″ ranked 17th on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, setting a record as the first charting K-pop boy group debut in the past five years. The significance of the Lollapalooza Chicago stage is also great. In July 2022, BTS member J-Hope became the first Korean artist to headline the same stage, performing 18 songs for about an hour in front of approximately 105,000 spectators. Lollapalooza stated that J-Hope’s headliner performance was a catalyst for the large-scale participation of K-pop groups. Four years later, this year, the youngest group from the same label, CORTIS, will stand on the same stage. This year’s Lollapalooza Chicago will be held at Grant Park from July 30 to August 2, with Black Pink member Jennie headlining alongside Charlie XCX, Lorde, Tate McRae, and others. In addition to Jennie, three K-pop teams—aespa, (G)I-DLE, and CORTIS—will participate.
