RESCENE’s Woni Receives Support From Former Teacher After Online Accusation Vanishes

RESCENE member Woni became the subject of an unexpected online controversy after an anonymous user accused her of problematic behavior during middle school.

The allegations appeared in a Korean online community on August 1. However, the original post was removed shortly after a person claiming to have been Woni’s homeroom teacher publicly challenged the accusations. The account that initially posted the claims was also no longer available as of the morning of August 3.

No independently verified evidence supporting the accusations has been made public. At the time of publication, RESCENE’s agency, The Muze Entertainment, had not released a formal statement addressing the matter.

Woni’s alleged former teacher shares evidence from her school years

On August 2, an X (formerly Twitter) account using the name “Woni’s homeroom teacher” appeared online. The person said they had taught Woni during her second and third years of middle school.

To support their identity, the account reportedly uploaded a graduation album, photographs of Woni with classmates, letters she had written as a student and messages exchanged with other teachers who had known her. The teacher described Woni as a dedicated student who served on the school-wide student council and actively participated in school events. They also shared an image said to show Woni taking part in a school violence prevention campaign.

“As someone who watched her closely during middle school, I could no longer remain silent while information that is not true continued to spread” the teacher wrote, according to reports. They also asked people to stop directing reckless criticism at Woni based on claims that had not been supported by evidence.

The teacher said Woni’s former classmates had remained close after graduating and that several of them had recently taken a trip together. Woni reportedly could not attend because of her schedule.

The original allegation disappears

Following the teacher’s response, the original accusation was deleted. By August 3, the account that had posted it was also reportedly unavailable. That sequence led several Korean reports to describe the controversy as effectively over. However, a more precise conclusion is that the accusations remain unsubstantiated, rather than having been formally investigated and disproven.

A teacher’s testimony and the disappearance of an anonymous post do not constitute an official legal finding. At the same time, no publicly available evidence has emerged to support the original allegations, and the person who raised them has not continued to defend the claims.

Fans question how quickly rumors become accepted as fact

The controversy quickly became part of a larger discussion familiar to K-pop fans: how easily anonymous accusations can affect an artist before the information has been properly examined.

Online users urged others to exercise caution and argued that an unverified social media post should not automatically be reported or repeated as an established fact.

For Woni’s supporters, the teacher’s decision to share photographs, school materials and messages provided a level of detail that the original anonymous post did not appear to contain. Fans also expressed relief that someone familiar with Woni’s school years had responded before the accusations spread further.

The episode nevertheless demonstrates how vulnerable young entertainers can be to allegations concerning their lives before debut. Once a celebrity’s name becomes connected to terms such as “school bullying,” corrections and later context may struggle to travel as widely as the initial accusation.

The teacher leaves one final message

After saying that the situation appeared to have been resolved, the teacher announced plans to delete the temporary X account.

Before leaving, they encouraged people to approach others with greater empathy. The teacher referenced the Confucian expression sam in haeng, pil yu a sa, which broadly means that when three people walk together, there is always someone from whom one can learn.

“Everyone can make mistakes and unintentionally hurt another person,” the teacher wrote, before asking people to recognize the good in others rather than judging them only through suspicion.

The account was subsequently closed after the teacher thanked fans for their support and asked them to continue looking kindly upon Woni.

For now, the accusations against Woni have disappeared from their original source, and no supporting evidence has been publicly presented. Unless additional verified information or an official agency statement emerges, the case illustrates the danger of allowing an anonymous allegation to become a verdict before the facts are established.
