'Chaebol X Detective 2' first broadcast, Jin Isu faces bomb terror threat... ratings 6.9%

SBS Friday-Saturday drama ’Rebel X Detective 2’ premiered on August 7. This season depicts the story of chaebol detective Jin Isu (played by Ahn Bo-hyun) collaborating with Joo Hyera, the head of the National Police Agency’s anti-terrorism team played by Jung Eun-chae, as they conduct a joint investigation against a series of terrorist attacks. In the first episode, Jin Isu receives a message from an anonymous informant about a homemade bomb planted in Hansu Department Store and rushes to the scene. Jin accidentally triggers the bomb’s detonator, but the anti-terrorism team led by Joo Hyera arrives and successfully defuses the bomb. During this process, Jin Isu reunites with Joo Hyera, his ″demon instructor″ who rigorously trained him during police academy. After the bomb incident, Jin Isu attends the launch event for a whiskey brand he developed. At the event, it is revealed that another bomb has been planted along with provocative messages from an anonymous culprit. An explosion occurs in a pile of whiskey at the venue, but Jin Isu is not seriously injured. This reveals that Jin Isu has become the target of the serial terrorist attacks. Unable to identify the suspect, Joo Hyera decides to move Jin Isu to a safe house for his protection. During the transfer, another time bomb is discovered inside the vehicle. Jin Isu and Joo Hyera move the vehicle to an unpopulated area, facing a crisis. The bomb is large enough to cause damage within a 100-meter radius, and less than five minutes remain until detonation. Meanwhile, Jin Isu recalls past grudges to find the identity of the culprit targeting him and visits his incarcerated older brother Jin Seungjoo (played by Kwak Si-yang). However, no clear suspects are found. Colleagues from the Violent Crimes Unit 1, Park Junyoung (played by Kang Sangjun) and Choi Kyungjin (played by Kim Shinbi), also analyze footage taken on the day of the event and begin their investigation. The first episode of ’Rebel X Detective 2’ recorded nationwide ratings of 6.1%, 6.0% in the metropolitan area, a peak rating of 6.9%, and a highest 2049 demographic rating of 2.1% according to Nielsen Korea. These figures surpass the 5.8% rating of the first episode of season 1. Comprising a total of 14 episodes, ’Rebel X Detective 2’ airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM.
