Oh Jiheon, '50 million won income' star instructor father confession... opened up about divorce and painful school days

Oh Jiheon candidly revealed his relationship with his father. He appeared on MBN’s ″While You Are Sick″ and said that his father was a top Korean history instructor in the early 1990s, earning a high income. Oh Jiheon explained that his father taught from morning till night in a combined space of five classrooms, and when a house in Apgujeong cost around 20 to 30 million won, his father’s monthly income was about 50 million won. He lived in a 100-pyeong house with a yard and a swimming pool, but his father prioritized work over family. His mother wanted his father to be more devoted to the family, but dissatisfaction grew between the couple, leading to frequent fights, and eventually, his parents divorced when Oh Jiheon was in his third year of high school. Regarding his school days, Oh Jiheon said that his grades were not bad originally, but since his father, who was a private academy instructor, dealt with many top-class students, the things his father said to him sounded dismissive, which was difficult. After finishing the college entrance exam, he planned to live with his mother, but due to her financial difficulties, he chose a boarding cram school. Later, he entered university with tuition provided by his mother, worked part-time, and explained that winning first place in an impersonation contest with a prize of 10 million won was the turning point that led him to become a comedian. Oh Jiheon said he met his father for the first time in eight years after hearing that his grandmother was critically ill, and through various experiences in society, he came to understand his father to some extent. He also said that becoming a father himself helped him understand his father’s feelings, allowing him to let go of the hurt feelings he had.
