Changbin’s Birthday Donation: A Gift for Young Patients’ Families

The Stray Kids rapper returned to Samsung Medical Center with a second birthday donation, expanding his support to include both medical care and emotional assistance for patients’ families.

Stray Kids member Changbin has celebrated his birthday by continuing a charitable commitment to children and adolescents receiving medical treatment.

According to JYP Entertainment, Changbin donated 100 million won to Samsung Medical Center on August 11. Half of the contribution, 50 million won, will help cover medical expenses for pediatric and adolescent patients. The remaining 50 million won will fund emotional-support programs for their families.

The decision makes the donation significant beyond its size. By dividing the funds between direct treatment and family assistance, Changbin is supporting not only young patients but also the people caring for them through difficult and often prolonged periods of treatment.

“Thanks to the tremendous love that fans have given me, I was able to practice meaningful sharing on my birthday,” Changbin said through his agency. “I sincerely hope my feelings can reach places where help is needed and become even a small source of hope and warm comfort.”

A Birthday Tradition That Has Continued to Grow

This is the second consecutive year that Changbin has marked his birthday with a 100 million won donation to Samsung Medical Center.

His 2025 contribution was designated for surgery and treatment costs for pediatric and adolescent patients from financially vulnerable households, as well as programs supporting their psychological well-being. With his latest donation, Changbin has now contributed a combined 200 million won to the hospital across two birthdays.

The 2026 allocation places additional emphasis on patients’ families. Serious childhood illness can affect an entire household, with parents and guardians often facing emotional strain alongside financial and practical pressures. Support programs can therefore play an important role alongside medical treatment, particularly when children require lengthy hospital stays or repeated care.

Changbin’s latest contribution recognizes that wider reality without turning the donation into a one-time symbolic gesture. Returning to the same hospital allows his support to develop with a clearer sense of continuity.

From Emergency Relief to Long-Term Care

Changbin’s charitable work has also extended beyond pediatric medicine.

Following the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria in 2023, he donated to the international relief organization The Promise and became a member of its Honors Club, which recognizes major supporters.

In 2025, Changbin joined the other Stray Kids members in contributing to recovery efforts after destructive wildfires affected South Korea’s Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk regions. The group provided assistance through Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association and World Vision. Stray Kids later donated through World Vision Hong Kong to support children and residents affected by a deadly residential fire in the city.

Taken together, those contributions show two different forms of assistance: immediate relief following large-scale disasters and sustained support for children navigating medical treatment.

A Personal Gesture During Stray Kids’ Global Rise

The donation arrives as Stray Kids continues one of the most internationally successful periods of its career.

The group released its new mini-album THIS & THAT on August 7, only four days before Changbin’s birthday. As part of the producing unit 3RACHA alongside Bang Chan and Han, Changbin participated in creating the album, continuing the hands-on approach that has shaped Stray Kids’ musical identity since its debut.

The group has also established an unprecedented Billboard record. When DO IT entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 in December 2025, Stray Kids became the first act in the chart’s history to debut at the top with each of its first eight charting albums.

That global success provides important context for Changbin’s words about returning the love he has received from fans. Rather than treating his birthday solely as a celebration directed toward him, he has again used it to redirect part of that support toward children and families facing circumstances far removed from the entertainment industry.
