The group TWS achieved first place on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart with their second single ″SODA SODA″ in Japan. On the 13th, their agency Pledis Entertainment announced that TWS (Shinyu, Dohun, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, Kyungmin)’s new song ″SODA SODA″ topped the Billboard Japan comprehensive song chart Hot 100 (August 12 issue, tracking period August 3–9). This is the first time this year that a K-pop group’s song has reached number one on this chart. According to Oricon, ″SODA SODA″ sold 225,853 copies in its first week, marking the highest first-week sales for any release by TWS in Japan. As a result, it ranked second on both Oricon’s latest ″Weekly Single Ranking″ (August 17 issue, tracking period August 3–9) and Billboard Japan’s ″Top Single Sales″ chart. ″SODA SODA″ is a song that cherishes the sparkling moments of youth and expresses hope to move forward. The refreshing city pop sound combined with lyrics filled with summer memories conveys the bittersweet and tender feelings of youth. The music video warmly depicts summer beach scenes with friends. TWS plans to continue various activities in Japan.
