Park Seo-jin completes 8.15km historical run on Liberation Day... Honors independence activists with 4.5% viewership rating

KBS 2TV’s ″Salimnam″ commemorated Liberation Day by depicting Park Seo-jin’s 8.15km historical run and the daily lives of Hwanhee and Lee Jang-woo’s family. The broadcast on the 15th recorded a nationwide Nielsen Korea viewership rating of 3.9%, with a peak rating of 4.5%. In the broadcast, Park Seo-jin ran 8.15km from Tapgol Park to Seodaemun Prison and the Baekbeom Kim Gu Memorial Hall with his younger sibling Hyo-jung and Sun Kim, retracing the footsteps of independence activists and reflecting on the significance of Liberation Day. Park Seo-jin said, ″Recently, I started painting folk paintings and developed an interest in history as ’Folk Painting Park’.″ Sun Kim introduced the Octagonal Pavilion, the starting point of the March 1st Movement, and the story of independence activist Jeong Jae-yong while designing the running course. At Seodaemun Prison, Park Seo-jin, who saw the records of prisoners, shackles, and the harsh prison cells of independence activists firsthand, showed anger at the atrocities committed by the Japanese colonial government. Stories of various independence activists such as Doctor Kang Woo-gyu and martyr Yu Gwan-sun followed. Sun Kim said, ″Because of these people, we can enjoy such freedom and prosperity.″ At the final destination of the run, the Baekbeom Kim Gu Memorial Hall, they shared stories about Kim Gu’s life and his family’s independence activities in honor of the 150th anniversary of his birth. Park Seo-jin and Hyo-jung looked into Kim Gu’s life through ″Baekbeom Ilji,″ and Hyo-jung said, ″I didn’t know it was this deep, so it feels new.″ After finishing the run, Park Seo-jin practiced ″donjjulnaegi″ by ordering 815,000 won worth of food at a restaurant run by descendants of independence patriots. He exceeded the target amount while dining with students from the Ssireum club, and Park Seo-jin said, ″I was glad to be able to give to the friends who exercise, and above all, I was happy because it started on Liberation Day at a store run by descendants of national patriots.″ Meanwhile, the family story of Hwanhee and actor Lee Jang-woo was also portrayed. Lee Jang-woo visited Hwanhee’s house and said, ″I watched ’Salimnam’ and saw there are many problems. Why do you treat your aunt like that?″ He criticized Hwanhee. Lee Jang-woo offered to introduce a friend of his wife to Hwanhee, who showed reluctance by mentioning the age difference. When Lee Yo-won asked about marriage plans, Hwanhee replied, ″It would be a lie to say no.″ In response to Eun Ji-won’s question, he said, ″I think saying ’I went because of circumstances’ is better than not going at all.″ Lee Jang-woo took care of Hwanhee’s mother by preparing flower viewing, abalone dishes, and even a hula hoop for his aunt.
