JTBC's 'Apartment' ends today... Actors including Ji Sung share feelings of "gratitude, happiness, and responsibility"

Actors Ji Sung, Ha Yoon-kyung, Park Byung-eun, and Moon So-ri of JTBC’s weekend drama ’Apartment’ expressed their gratitude to viewers as the series concluded. Ji Sung portrayed Park Hae-kang, the former boss of Oasispa, who transformed from a character aiming to seize the apartment’s long-term repair fund into a protector of the residents’ fund. He revealed that preparing for the role made him realize the preciousness of ordinary daily life and said, ″I deeply thank the viewers who stayed with us until the end.″ He added, ″As I approached Park Hae-kang, I began to look closely at ordinary things like the stairs I pass every day, neighbors I only know by face, and hallways I used to walk through without much thought, all to protect something. It was only when faced with the risk of losing them that I realized how precious that ordinariness truly was, and I felt the same while acting.″ Ji Sung also expressed gratitude to writer Kim Yoon-young, director Jo Yong-won, the production team, and fellow actors, saying, ″I feel especially grateful to the JTBC staff who did their best during these difficult times. I sincerely hope that the overwhelming love ’Apartment’ received has become a small strength for them to rise again.″ Ha Yoon-kyung, who played Kang Ha-ri, reflected, ″’Apartment’ was a project where good people gathered and worked hard to create a good drama.″ She continued, ″Just as Hae-kang in the drama wanted to create a ’really good apartment,’ I hope our drama brought a little laughter and happiness to the viewers, fulfilling that goal.″ Ha Yoon-kyung sincerely thanked the precious viewers who tuned in late on weekend evenings and said, ″Wherever you are, I hope safety and happiness are always with you.″ Park Byung-eun, who played the ultimate villain Lee Choong-won, said, ″When I first read the script, I really liked the overall story and was greatly attracted to the character Lee Choong-won. I was very happy and honored to work on a project I was deeply immersed in.″ He added, ″I always feel regret and sadness when a project ends, but this ’Apartment’ will stay in my thoughts for a long time. I thank everyone who loved it, and if this work remains even a little in your hearts, I will be happy as an actor.″ Moon So-ri, who played Jang Sook-jin, the guardian of True Value, said, ″I sincerely thank you for watching the drama ’Apartment’ and for loving the responsible True Value guardian ’Jang Sook-jin.’ I will soon greet you again with a good project, but in a completely different role.″ ’Apartment’ depicted the story of Park Hae-kang, the former boss of Oasispa, who ran for the apartment association president election to seize hidden money within the apartment and worked with residents to root out corruption. The show started with a 4.6% viewership rating in the first episode, surpassed 6% by the fourth episode, but then declined from the fifth episode, maintaining ratings in the 4–5% range thereafter. On June 12, JTBC declared a default on 20.6 billion won in securitized borrowings and applied for voluntary restructuring support (ARS), which was accepted by the Seoul Bankruptcy Court. The drama ’Apartment’ concluded with the broadcast of its 12th episode on August 16.
