Jennie’s ‘Fallen Angel’ Physical Album Has a Surprise New Song Fans Haven’t Heard

Jennie is giving fans more than they initially expected from her upcoming Fallen Angel era.

On August 24, the BLACKPINK star unveiled a new set of cinematic concept photos while confirming a six-track physical edition of Fallen Angel. The images move between stark black-and-white photography and intense red tones, with subtitle-like text making some shots look more like frames from an art film than traditional K-pop album photos.

But the visuals were not the only surprise.

The physical edition contains twice as many songs as the digital EP arriving this Friday.

The digital and physical versions are different

Jennie’s digital Fallen Angel EP will be released on August 28 at 1 p.m. KST with three tracks: “FALLEN ANGEL,” “HEAVEN” and her July single “Less than a Lover.” Pitchfork also confirmed the three-track digital release through ODDATELIER and Columbia Records.

The physical edition expands that lineup to six songs, adding “sweettooth,” “lockitdown” and “Face.”

“Face” is particularly notable because it is a completely new song that Jennie has not previously unveiled, while “sweettooth” and “lockitdown” were among the unreleased tracks she previewed during her summer festival run. The physical EP opens for pre-orders on August 26 at 11 a.m. KST.

Jennie celebrated the expanded project by telling fans she was happy that the songs were finally coming together as Fallen Angel and that she could not wait for people to hear them.

Three songs will be physical exclusives

There is one catch.

According to ODDATELIER’s announcement, “sweettooth,” “lockitdown” and “Face” will initially be exclusive to the physical edition, rather than appearing on Friday’s three-track digital EP.

That decision immediately became one of the biggest talking points around the release.

Some fans were excited to discover that the project had effectively expanded from three songs to six. Others questioned the decision to make half of the physical tracklist unavailable on streaming, especially because “sweettooth” and “lockitdown” had already generated anticipation through live performances.

The strategy certainly gives the physical album something genuinely exclusive but it also means fans who have spent the summer waiting for studio versions of those songs may need to buy the CD to hear them officially.

Jennie spent the summer introducing this EP before announcing it

Fallen Angel has had an unusual rollout.

Rather than revealing every song through a traditional tracklist first, Jennie began introducing parts of the project on festival stages.

At Lollapalooza Chicago on August 1, she performed “Less than a Lover” and also debuted unreleased music in front of the crowd. She became the first female K-pop artist to headline the festival. She continued bringing new material into her festival sets throughout the summer, meaning some fans knew songs like “Fallen Angel,” “HEAVEN” and “lockitdown” through fancams long before they knew which project they belonged to.

The visuals are darker and more cinematic than ‘Ruby’

The new concept photos reinforce that this is not simply an extension of Jennie’s Ruby imagery.

Earlier Fallen Angel visuals placed Jennie in a white dress surrounded by flowers, with the album title positioned above her like a crown. The accompanying trailer leaned into fairy-tale imagery and ideas of flight and freedom.

The August 24 photographs push the concept somewhere darker.

Black-and-white frames are interrupted by deep red imagery, while cinematic compositions and text overlays give the campaign a narrative quality.

That contrast fits the title itself: something beautiful, almost heavenly, with something less innocent underneath.

‘Fallen Angel’ comes one year after ‘Ruby’

The project follows Jennie’s first solo studio album, Ruby, released in 2025.

Rather than immediately launching another full album, Jennie appears to be treating Fallen Angel as a smaller and more self-contained chapter shaped heavily by the festival summer she just completed.

ODDATELIER has described the three-song digital edition as coming from a particularly personal place and as something Jennie hopes fans will remember this summer by. That makes the physical edition especially interesting. The digital version gives everyone the central three-song story. The CD reveals another three tracks hidden behind it. And one of them“Face”is a song nobody has heard yet.

For fans who thought they already knew most of Jennie’s unreleased summer music, she has managed to keep at least one surprise untouched.
