Seventeen enters military service for five members starting in October... Individual activities including the formation of units by Jeonghan and Joshua announced

Seventeen has 8 out of its 13 members currently fulfilling or scheduled to fulfill their military service obligations, so starting in October, the group will enter a military hiatus with a five-member lineup. Since their debut, Seventeen has emphasized the team’s identity and performance with all 13 members together. The members wore matching team rings and showcased their teamwork through synchronized choreography performed by all 13 members. They have also presented stage setups reminiscent of musicals and performances only possible with a large group. Last month, all 13 members signed their second contract renewal with Pledis Entertainment. Following their debut in 2015 and their first renewal in 2021, this time as well, all members chose to renew without any departures. Ahead of the military hiatus, Jeonghan, who enlisted first, was discharged in June, and Wonwoo is currently serving as a social service worker. Hoshi and Woozi are serving as active-duty soldiers in the army, and Vernon began alternative service on the 20th. Dokyeom and Mingyu are also preparing for enlistment and alternative service respectively, while Seungkwan and Dino will enlist as army military band members in October. After October, five members—Jeonghan, who has been discharged; S.Coups, who was exempted from military service; and foreign members The8, Jun, and Joshua—will continue team activities. Seventeen has shown diverse colors within the team through various units and solo activities, including the hip-hop team, vocal team, performance team, BSS (Seungkwan, Dokyeom, Hoshi), Jeonghan x Wonwoo, and V8 (The8, Vernon). Unit activities will continue during the military hiatus, with Jeonghan and Joshua forming the group’s seventh unit in October. They plan to minimize the gap in group activities by simultaneously pursuing individual activities. A representative from Pledis Entertainment stated, ″Seventeen is clearly showcasing each member’s capabilities and individuality through various unit and solo activities,″ adding, ″This year, starting with Dokyeom x Seungkwan focusing on vocals, V8 blending electronic music with pop sensibility, and Dino’s album exploring both his main and alter egos have received positive responses, and they are expanding their activities into acting and variety shows.″ The representative continued, ″This goes beyond filling the group’s hiatus; it will expand the team’s musical spectrum and offer fans new tastes and experiences.″ Seventeen has maintained a structure of expanding individual areas through units and solo activities while coming together as one team again. Although full-group stages will pause temporarily, they plan to continue various activities during the military hiatus by leveraging the strengths of a large group.
