'Hyorisu' Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung officially debut with 'Skibidi' on the 31st... a unit born from 19 years of experience

Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, Yuri, and Hyoyeon are about to officially debut as the project unit HyoRiSu (Girls’ Generation-HRS). HyoRiSu originated from Hyoyeon’s YouTube channel ’Hyoyeon’s Level Up’ in the ’Fake Kim Hyoyeon’ content series, starting as variety content and evolving into actual music activities. The project began with a joking declaration to create a group to rival the unit TaeTiSeo, formed by Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun within Girls’ Generation. Coming together to create new synergy, Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung concretized HyoRiSu, calling themselves a ’6th generation rookie girl group.’ They took a unique approach by negotiating with music show producers for their debut stage, demanding a 30-minute slot either as the opening or closing act and even suggesting the use of helicopters. Building on the buzz they generated in variety shows, they appeared on major programs such as tvN’s ’You Quiz on the Block’ and MBC’s ’How Do You Play?’. HyoRiSu also showcased competition for the main vocal and center positions in content adopting a fake documentary style. The three humorously addressed the reality that they could not take many parts during Girls’ Generation’s activities, creating their own narrative. On the 22nd, at the ’2026 Kaschool Festival’ held at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, HyoRiSu premiered their new song stage for the first time. The performance included not only the new song but also a medley of Girls’ Generation hits. The over 30-minute fancam video of the stage recorded 800,000 views within four days. After the performance, Sooyoung shared a commemorative photo with Yuri and Hyoyeon on her SNS. HyoRiSu will officially debut on the 31st at 6 PM with the digital single ’Skibidi.’ The single includes the title track ’Skibidi’ and ’Lowkey in Love.’ The new song carries the message ’Let’s create our own new path,’ expressing HyoRiSu’s unique cheerful and confident energy. Sooyoung, Yuri, and Hyoyeon debuted as members of Girls’ Generation in 2007, releasing numerous hits such as ’Into the New World,’ ’Girls’ Generation,’ ’Gee,’ ’Tell Me Your Wish (Genie),’ and ’Oh!’. Now, 19 years after their debut, they are active in their respective fields but have recently reunited as a team to continue new unit activities.
