Seo Kang-joon transforms into a 10-year veteran boyfriend in 'Not You, Another Love'... "The sacrifice of love is reflected in his eyes"

In the new Saturday-Sunday mini-series on KBS 2TV, ″Not You, But Another Love,″ Seo Kang-joon takes on the role of Namgung-ho, a 10-year veteran lover, delivering a realistic melodrama performance. ″Not You, But Another Love″ (directed by Hwang Seung-gi and Lee Ga-ram, written by Yoo Soo-ji) depicts the story of a couple in their 10th year of dating who encounter new emotions amid familiarity. Seo Kang-joon plays Namgung-ho, who does not hesitate to make sacrifices for his future with Lee Mi-do (played by Ahn Eun-jin), showcasing deep emotional acting. Lee Mi-do is portrayed as a character who has achieved her dream of becoming a film director but wavers in the face of reality. Lee Joo-an takes on the role of Han Tae-seung, hinting at changes in the couple’s relationship. Seo Kang-joon revealed that he was drawn to the realistic aspects of Namgung-ho when he first encountered the character. He described Namgung-ho as ″delicate and kind, yet possessing a coldness that comes from a strong inner core, someone who compromises with reality but does not cross certain boundaries, making him feel like a person who could actually exist.″ He added that the work’s focus on reality rather than fantasy made it easier to immerse himself in the role. He emphasized that the core of Namgung-ho’s love is ″sacrifice.″ Seo Kang-joon introduced the character by saying, ″Going to work, saving money, enduring the absurdities of reality—all of it is for the future with Lee Mi-do. He is a sacrificial person who would do anything for his lover.″ Regarding emotional expression, he said he focused on the eyes and subtle changes rather than exaggeration to convey sincerity. About his acting chemistry with Ahn Eun-jin, he said, ″The phrase ’pretend and understand’ comes to mind first,″ emphasizing that they focused on naturally expressing the familiarity and comfort unique to long-term lovers. He also mentioned that their interpretations matched well in scenes requiring emotional depth, and he felt a sense of security and happiness every time they acted together. Seo Kang-joon described the drama as one that deeply immerses viewers through emotions such as jealousy, boredom, love-hate, understanding, and sacrifice—feelings that anyone who has experienced love can relate to.
