Lee Hyuk-jae caught for drunk driving... booked for an accident at license suspension level

Lee Hyuk-jae is under police investigation for hitting a motorcycle that was waiting at a traffic signal while driving under the influence. The Yeonsu Police Station in Incheon announced that Lee Hyuk-jae has been booked without detention on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act and is currently under investigation. According to the police, Lee Hyuk-jae is accused of rear-ending a motorcycle on a road in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, at 10 p.m. the previous day. A breathalyzer test conducted at the scene confirmed that his blood alcohol concentration was between 0.03% and 0.08%, which corresponds to the license suspension threshold. It was reported that there were no passengers in Lee Hyuk-jae’s vehicle at the time of the accident. The police are verifying whether the motorcycle driver was injured, and some reports indicate that the driver, who is in their 20s, was injured but not seriously. The police plan to examine the extent of the damage in detail through the investigation. A police official explained, ″If the victim driver’s injury is confirmed, charges of injury under the Special Act on the Treatment of Traffic Accidents may also be applied.″ Additionally, the police intend to conduct further investigations with Lee Hyuk-jae regarding the circumstances of drinking, the driving distance, and the situation at the time of the accident. Meanwhile, Lee Hyuk-jae debuted as an MBC public recruitment comedian in 1999 and has worked as an MC and panelist on various entertainment programs. He won the Grand Prize at the KBS Entertainment Awards in 2004. Recently, in March, he served as a judge on the ’Proportional Youth Audition for Metropolitan Councilors’ organized by the People Power Party ahead of the June 3 local elections.
