(G)I-DLE Miyeon, health checkup YouTube video sparks 'medical advertisement' controversy...public health center receives complaints

After (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon released a YouTube video documenting her health checkup and sedation endoscopy process, suspicions of indirect advertising were raised. According to the entertainment industry and online communities, on the 7th, Mr. A submitted a petition to the Yongsan Public Health Center through the National Petition System, requesting verification of whether Miyeon’s health checkup content constitutes medical advertising under the Medical Service Act. Mr. A claimed that in the video titled ″Children Miyeon, First Health Checkup at Thirty″ released on the YouTube channel ″Preacher,″ the process of receiving sedation and undergoing an endoscopy exposed a medical institution, medical staff, and facilities in Yongsan-gu. He filed a complaint asking for a determination on whether this constitutes indirect advertising disguised as a health checkup. Additionally, the medical institution was introduced in the video as a ″Health Checkup Center specializing in stomach and colon endoscopy,″ but according to the information on care institutions, it is classified as a ″clinic.″ Therefore, he requested a review of the appropriateness of the use of the medical institution’s name. It is currently known that this complaint has been assigned to the relevant department and is under review. Miyeon debuted in 2018 as the main vocalist of (G)I-DLE and has been active with songs such as ″LATATA,″ ″TOMBOY,″ and ″Queencard.″ In 2022, she released her first solo album ″MY″ and is active in various fields, including as an MC on Mnet’s ″M Countdown.″
