Jimin, praised by the LA Times... proves world-class style with a 'fishing vest'

BTS Jimin’s stage fashion received high praise from major overseas media including the Los Angeles Times. The Los Angeles Times reviewed the first day of BTS’s concert held on the 2nd at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, mentioning Jimin as the highlight of the stage. The media reported that Jimin wore a mesh top and a unique vest, describing the vest as ″what looked an awful lot like somebody’s grandpa’s fishing vest,″ humorously evaluating the styling. It also reported that the members seem to have entered an ″era of adult casual wear,″ where after long costume concept meetings, each member freely chooses their outfit. Praise for Jimin’s fashion continued at the London and Paris concerts. At the June concert at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, The Guardian gave a 5-star review, naming Jimin their ″favorite member″ after the show and expressing that they wanted to learn Korean. Billboard mentioned that Jimin’s hairstyle at the same concert was ″intensely striking enough to deserve praise.″ At the Stade de France concert in Paris, Jimin, a Dior House ambassador, showcased a custom Dior outfit designed by Jonathan Anderson, receiving evaluations from fashion media calling him ″like Dior’s muse.″ At the full-group comeback stage held at Gwanghwamun Square last March, Jimin appeared wearing Songzio’s armor concept outfit, reinterpreting the lines of hanbok with styling that was also praised as ″an all-time visual.″ The BTS Arirang Tour concerts themselves also received positive reviews. The Los Angeles Times described BTS as a ″world-class pop artist who doesn’t need a separate award category,″ and called this stage a test to gauge the cultural penetration power of K-pop. They reported that the new release ’Arirang’ blends elements of traditional Korean folk songs with pop and hip-hop sounds, and that during the ’Body to Body’ stage, images of women wearing hanbok appeared on a large screen. The members mostly communicated in Korean between songs and sang in English, and it was introduced that there was a scene in the Netflix documentary where they shared their thoughts about this. Suga greeted the audience in Korean on stage, saying, ″LA, long time no see?″ and the members expressed their hope that their music would be loved beyond regions and languages. The atmosphere of Koreatown near the concert venue also drew attention. According to the LA Times, Koreatown, about 6.4 km from SoFi Stadium, is connected by the Metro K Line, leading to continued visits by fans, and the Line Hotel’s customized ″restaurant tour″ courses for each member became a hot topic. The City of Los Angeles designated September 1 to 8 as ″BTS Week″ and lit the city hall building in red, the color of the new album. This Los Angeles concert was BTS’s first solo stadium concert in the same city in about five years since 2021. All four SoFi Stadium concerts were sold out, and the entire North American tour attracted about 1.92 million people across 31 shows in 12 cities. BTS set the record for the most performances at this stadium with a total of eight shows at SoFi Stadium (cumulative audience of about 496,000).
