Kim Min-jong withdraws defamation lawsuit against MC Mong... "Accepted apology and chose reconciliation"

Singer and actor Kim Min-jong has withdrawn the defamation lawsuit he filed against MC Mong (real name Shin Dong-hyun). On the 10th, Oh Sung-heon, a lawyer from the law firm Ohkims representing Kim Min-jong, announced that the defamation lawsuit filed against MC Mong on September 1 at the Jongno Police Station in Seoul for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection was withdrawn on September 9. The law firm Ohkims explained that the withdrawal of the lawsuit does not mean that Kim Min-jong is reversing his previous stance or the damage he suffered, but rather that, considering the other party’s acknowledgment of wrongdoing and apology, they decided not to continue the legal dispute. In May, MC Mong mentioned Kim Min-jong during a live broadcast and raised allegations related to the so-called ’Baduk gambling ring.’ Kim Min-jong’s side stated that these allegations were groundless. Following this, conflicts between the two parties continued, and Kim Min-jong claimed that he suffered financial and emotional damages, including the suspension of his upcoming Hollywood project and a major advertising contract. Subsequently, the two had a direct conversation, and MC Mong admitted and apologized for emotionally criticizing Kim Min-jong without properly verifying the facts. On the 5th, MC Mong publicly apologized through a TikTok live broadcast, saying, ″It was wrong to mention Kim Min-jong in the first place.″ Kim Min-jong accepted MC Mong’s apology and stated, ″I thought it was necessary to give another chance to someone who admitted their mistake and apologized.″ He added, ″It is true that I suffered wounds and damages that are hard to heal over the past four months, but I did not want to ignore the heart of a junior who reflected and sought forgiveness. I believed embracing a person was a more meaningful choice than legal action.″ He also expressed his intention to ″support each other and move forward in our respective places.″ Kim Min-jong expressed his gratitude to fans and media representatives, saying, ″I sincerely thank all the fans and media personnel who have worried about and supported me,″ and added, ″I will continue to greet you with good music, acting, and a more mature appearance in my original position.″
