A woman in her 50s is under police investigation on suspicion of installing a listening device under a café table to eavesdrop on conversations involving singer and actor Cha Eun-woo. On the 18th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced that they have booked and are investigating a woman in her 50s, identified as A, for violating the Communications Privacy Protection Act. According to the police, A is believed to have attached a listening device under a table at a café in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to eavesdrop on conversations between Cha Eun-woo and an acquaintance. A visited the café twice, on the 23rd and 29th of last month, to install the listening device, and was caught by the police on the 30th while attempting to retrieve it. A was initially arrested on an emergency basis but was later released and is currently being investigated without detention. The police explained that they are conducting a forensic examination of A’s mobile phone to determine whether there are accomplices and to trace the source of the listening device. A police official stated, ″We are investigating the related case,″ but added that specific details could not be disclosed.
