IU is considering reducing the types of merchandise to ease the burden on fans.

Singer IU revealed that they are considering reducing the types of official merchandise. This concern arose from the possibility that fans might face financial burdens due to various schedules such as albums, concerts, and fan club memberships. In the video titled ″Successful Ultimate Fan IU Invitation″ released on the YouTube channel ’Jindol’ on the 25th, IU talked with Jindol and Heedi about fandom culture, official merchandise, and photocards. During the conversation about the release of official merchandise, the opinion was raised that if merchandise is released in various forms, fans would have to keep spending money. In response, IU expressed that fans could just choose and buy what they want, but then laughed and said, ″I guess that’s not really possible.″ When Heedi said that having more types of merchandise is better, IU mentioned their usual thoughts from the fans’ perspective about having to consume various content. IU explained that when schedules such as album releases, concerts, and joining the 9th fan club continue, fans’ spending naturally increases. They then expressed the hope that instead of buying all products, fans would choose and purchase the items they like. Additionally, IU said they understand fans’ desire to own even one more item related to their favorite artist. At the same time, they suggested the idea of reducing the number of products themselves. In response, Heedi made everyone laugh by saying not to decide on reducing merchandise just yet, and to let fans choose which products to buy themselves.
