Jiseon opens up about leaving Loveholic and going solo on 'Back to the Music 2'... from professor to new song release

On the broadcast of KBS 1TV’s ’Back to the Music Season 2’ on the 26th, Jisun, formerly of Loveholic, appeared and revealed her musical life and recent updates. During the broadcast, Jisun mentioned a period when she took a break from music, saying, ″There was a time when I stepped back from music.″ She shared that she lived as a university professor and a mother, and started releasing new songs from May this year. She has been working as a professor in the Practical Music Department at Yongin University since 2018 and is also dedicated to nurturing future talents. She also shared anecdotes with students who remember her from the Loveholic days. Jisun said, ″There were friends who came to school because of me,″ and told a story about a student who took the exam six times just to meet her. She introduced her experience of being nicknamed the ″Purple Witch″ because she often wore purple while performing with the band Wizard in Hongdae. She recalled a time when her father, who opposed her music activities, urged her to go to the countryside to take nun training. Later, Jisun applied for a vocal audition led by Lee Jae-hak and Kang Hyun-min, beating a competition ratio of 600 to 1, and was selected as the vocalist of Loveholic. Near the end of the first album production, she expressed to Lee Jae-hak her desire to sing songs that revealed more of the band’s color, which led to the creation of their signature song ″Loveholic.″ Loveholic gained popularity with several songs such as ″Flowerpot,″ ″If Only You Were Here,″ and ″Doll’s Dream.″ Regarding the vocal style required in Loveholic, Jisun explained, ″I was scolded if I sang like that. They told me to relax and put more air into my voice,″ which resulted in a restrained vocal style. As for why she left the team after five years and the third album, she said, ″Since the team was like a combination of two teachers and one student, there was always struggle,″ and expressed frustration at not meeting expectations despite doing her best. She also shared her feelings, saying, ″I started music because I liked it, but it was hard to be troubled by music.″ Lee Jae-hak said, ″I thought supporting her future was the cool thing to do,″ and added, ″Looking back now, it would have been better if I had strongly told her that I wanted to continue together.″ After leaving the team, Jisun regained her pure love for music in Okinawa and continued her activities with a solo album. She got married in 2014 and has one daughter.
