BTS wins three awards at the 2026 MTV VMA, sweeping categories including 'Song of the Year' with 'SWIM'

BTS won the ’Song of the Year’ award at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, USA, for the title track ″SWIM″ from their fifth full-length album ″ARIRANG.″ With this win, BTS took home the trophy competing against ″Bring Your Love″ by Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter, ″Stateside″ by PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson, and ″WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!″ by Ray. In addition to ’Song of the Year,’ BTS won a total of three awards, including ’Best K-pop’ and ’Best Group.’ This marks their fifth consecutive win for ’Best Group’ from 2019 to 2022. The award was won by Black Pink in 2023, Seventeen in 2024, and Black Pink again in 2025. In March, BTS ended their full-group military hiatus and released their fifth full-length album ″ARIRANG,″ and they are currently on a large-scale world tour following the album release. They did not attend the awards ceremony. Last year, Black Pink Rosé won ’Song of the Year’ for ″APT.″ featuring Bruno Mars, and this year BTS continued the streak, making K-pop the recipient of the grand prize for two consecutive years.
