Wooz denies appearance in Japanese film 'Damako,' clarifies "The article was incorrect"

Singer WOODZ (Cho Seung-yeon) recently addressed rumors about his appearance in a Japanese film featuring the atomic bomb. WOODZ explained that after receiving the script, he carefully reviewed it but ultimately declined to participate. On September 27, during a live broadcast, WOODZ stated, ″The article was incorrect,″ adding that after reading the script and understanding the content, he shared his opinion with his agency and, after careful consideration, decided not to appear. He mentioned that by the time the casting report was released, he had already made the decision not to participate. WOODZ said, ″The reason I did not immediately make an official statement was because I thought the fandom, Mooz, might feel upset for a day,″ and added, ″I also felt uneasy after seeing the posts on social media, but due to my performance schedule, I was late in sharing the news.″ Earlier, there were reports that WOODZ had been cast in the Korea-Japan joint film Damako, but it was confirmed that he declined after reviewing the script. Damako is known to depict the story of a boy who lost his parents to the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, in 1945, and who follows Korean residents in Japan to Korea, experiencing the Korean War. The casting rumors led to criticism and malicious comments online, but WOODZ’s side clarified the facts. WOODZ said, ″I did not expect this to escalate so much, but I was aware that many people were worried. Please do not worry,″ and added, ″I also think a lot and try to proceed with everything carefully, considering various factors.″ Meanwhile, WOODZ is set to appear as actor Cho Seung-yeon in the film Nambul. Nambul is a hard-boiled martial arts action film set in early Joseon, depicting nine warriors who embark on a journey to Tsushima Island to rescue prisoners kidnapped by Japanese pirates. WOODZ will play the role of the first archer. As a singer, he is preparing for the world tour encore concert ″2026 WOODZ WORLD TOUR Archive. 1 : Completed,″ with fan club pre-sale starting on October 6 and general ticket sales beginning on October 7. Additionally, he released his first full-length album Archive. 1 and plans to release the Seung Chul Lee 40th debut anniversary single ″Our Story″ on September 30.
