'Train to Busan' 10th Anniversary 4K Remastering Screening

Director Yeon Sang-ho to hold GVDirector Yeon Sang-ho's 'Train to Busan' will meet audiences again on October 3rd at Cinemathque KOFA in a 4K remastered version to commemorate its 10th anniversary. /Work Poster[THE FACT|Reporter Park Ji-yoon] Director Yeon Sang-ho's 'Train to Busan' will return to audiences to celebrate its 10th anniversary.The Korean Film Archive announced on the 30th, "A special screening to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the release of the movie 'Train to Busan' (directed by Yeon Sang-ho) will be held at Cinemathque KOFA at 4:30 PM on October 3rd," adding, "This screening will feature the work in a 4K remastered version."Released in 2016, 'Train to Busan' is a film that depicts the struggle for survival of passengers on a KTX train heading to Busan from Seoul amidst an outbreak of an unknown infection. The film was directed by Yeon Sang-ho and starred actors Gong Yoo, Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok, Kim Su-an, Kim Eui-sung, Choi Woo-shik, and Ahn So-hee.'Train to Busan' was invited to the Midnight Screening section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2016, and after its release in Korea, it achieved the feat of surpassing 10 million viewers, becoming the first Korean zombie film to do so.In particular, the film captivated audiences by depicting the rapidly spreading infection in the confined space of a train and the choices made by various characters in response to it. Since then, Director Yeon has built his own worldview by presenting zombie-themed works such as 'Peninsula' and 'Hellbound'.Meanwhile, 'Train to Busan', celebrating its 10th anniversary, is being re-released sequentially in overseas theaters, starting with the Philippines, followed by North America, Japan, and Italy, meeting audiences in foreign cinemas.In response, the Korean Film Archive has organized this special screening to provide domestic audiences with the opportunity to re-experience 'Train to Busan' in a 4K remastered version in theaters. Both audiences who watched it at the time of its release and those encountering the film for the first time can enjoy the movie on the big screen.Additionally, a GV (Guest Visit) session with director Yeon Sang-ho and film critic Kim Bong-seok will be held after the screening. They will discuss the production behind-the-scenes of 'Train to Busan' and its significance in the history of Korean genre films.
