The most interesting story in the 'Tazza' series"Actor Noh Jae-won held an interview regarding the release of the movie 'Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub'. /CJ ENM[THE FACT|Reporter Park Ji-yoon] This is a work that marks the finale of a series loved for 20 years and is also the actor's first leading role on the big screen, keywords that are bound to bring considerable pressure. Nevertheless, actor Noh Jae-won, who jumped into this with a justifiable confidence that he could present something new, adorned the end of 'Tazza' with an irreplaceable presence and clearly imprinted another face as an actor. On the 14th, ahead of the release of the movie 'Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub' (directed by Choi Gook-hee, hereinafter referred to as 'Tazza 4'), Noh Jae-won held an interview with at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. He is captivating audiences by playing the role of Park Tae-young, a meticulous strategist armed with inferiority complex and jealousy. The movie 'Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub' (directed by Choi Gook-hee, hereinafter referred to as 'Tazza 4'), which was released on the 23rd, is a crime film about Jang Tae-young (played by Byun Yo-han), who thought he had the world in his hands with his online casino business, and his best friend Park Tae-young, who shares the same name and took everything from him, meeting again in the global gambling world for a revenge match.Noh Jae-won played the role of Park Tae-young, a meticulous strategist armed with inferiority complex and jealousy. /CJ ENM'Tazza 4' is based on the work of the same name, which Huh Young-man selected as his favorite story among his series, and it is the fourth sequel and finale of the movie 'Tazza' series, which has been expanding its unique world for 20 years. Noh Jae-won, who challenged his first leading role on the big screen through this, said, "It's a dream come true and I'm so grateful," and explained the reason for his decision to appear."I liked the script this time because it approached me as another story of Jang Tae-young and Park Tae-young, not just 'Tazza.' I also empathized with Park Tae-young, so I really wanted to do it. Rather than it being the finale of the well-known 'Tazza' series, I always had a desire to do something new and something I had never seen before, and this project felt like the newest story among the 'Tazza' series."Park Tae-young, who has proven himself through his innate intelligence and relentless effort, is a long-time friend and reliable business partner, but he secretly envies Jang Tae-young, who always receives more attention than him, eventually betrays him, establishes a casino under his own name, and reveals his hidden desires. Noh Jae-won approached the character by recalling his real-life friend and empathizing with his jealousy."There are times when someone feels inferior and looks pathetic because of someone else. I have a friend who is like my alter ego, and I envy, respect, and admire many things about him. I am living a righteous life thanks to my desire to emulate his attitude towards life. It started from this relationship between me and my friend, and I got hints from senior Byun Yo-han's actions of wanting to emulate everything about him. Intentionally buying clothes of the same brand and imitating various actions helped a lot in my acting and preparation process."Noh Jae-won explained the reason for his appearance, saying, "I always had a desire to do something new and something I had never seen before, and this project felt like the newest story among the 'Tazza' series." /CJ ENMThis work presents an independent story by severing ties with previous installments, featuring poker instead of Hwatu, based on a more expanded background that spans not only Korea but also Japan and Vietnam. Therefore, Noh Jae-won went through the process of understanding Hold'em and mastering card skills. Furthermore, he placed more importance on it than the genre of the movie, as it is Park Tae-young's first tool to prove his worth."For Park Tae-young, Hold'em is the only tool he has to prove himself. There were more scenes from his school days where he wasn't loved by others. He only thought of himself as unlucky, but when he realized he had a talent for cards like no one else, how lucky that moment must have been for Park Tae-young. I thought it was a part where I could prove myself and be loved, so the card scenes were particularly important. That's why I studied Hold'em a lot and practiced cards a lot."Although it wasn't fully included in the final cut, the rough cut alone was about 4 hours long, and the script contained the narrative of Park Tae-young, who wanted to emulate Jang Tae-young so much and committed wrongdoings due to his uncontrollably growing jealousy. Noh Jae-won, who filmed it all, fully supported the director's choice to double the character's madness and the catharsis felt by the audience, while also offering a new perspective by telling scenes that reporters had not yet seen."I never approached acting in villainous roles while playing strong characters. Among them, Park Tae-young was the most innocent person. In the past, I tried to find common ground with the characters rather than just acting out evil deeds, but this time I could empathize a lot. While acting, I thought of him as a character who rationalizes by thinking, 'I'm trying this hard for my life, so shouldn't I naturally be praised?' I didn't intentionally try to create differences, but I think this point was a bit different."Noh Jae-won encouraged a lot of viewing, saying, "'Tazza 4' is a work that contains a human story. It's fun and you lose track of time, but it also gives you something to think about." /CJ ENMHe also mentioned the growth he experienced through Park Tae-young. Noh Jae-won said, "I don't think Jang Tae-young saw Park Tae-young as unlucky. It was just that his way of looking at the world was twisted," and recalled, "When my life is difficult or I'm tired, I learned from Park Tae-young that maybe it's just my own delusion. I felt very proud of that."He then expressed his deep trust and respect for Byun Yo-han, with whom he reunited after Disney+'s 'Uncle Samsik' in 'Tazza 4'. Noh Jae-won, who was already close, became even closer as they talked on the phone every day for the sake of the work's high quality and he even saved his number as 'Jang Tae,' immersing himself in the character."I relied on him a lot. Senior Byun Yo-han was Jang Tae-young himself, so I envied everything about him, and I felt complex emotions depending on how he looked at me. I learned a lot by watching the senior act clearly and technically what he wanted to express. In the play, Jang Tae-young is cool, has a lot, and has a good attitude, but Park Tae-young often appears hateful. I think their chemistry worked because they are such different people."'Tazza 4', which is responsible for the Chuseok holiday audience along with 'Assassins' (directed by Hur Jin-ho), led by actors Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Min-ho, opened on the same day. Along with this, as Korean films of various genres are also being screened, making for a richer theater season than ever before, Noh Jae-won emphasized the differentiated fun of the work by making a pledge to perform 'BAD' by ATEEZ if the audience surpasses 5 million."'Tazza 4' is a work that tells a very human story. Many people can relate to the relationship between Jang Tae-young and Park Tae-young. It's fun to watch and you lose track of time, but it also gives you something to think about. I was impressed while reading the comic, and it was the most interesting story in the 'Tazza' series. The fact that it's a new story to the extent that it doesn't even need to be titled 'Tazza' is a great advantage, and I think it's definitely the best in the series."jiyoon-1031@tf.co.kr[Entertainment Department | ssent@tf.co.kr]
