'BTS Forest' created in Machu Picchu, Peru; fans planted 2,000 trees

A ’BTS Forest’ has been established at Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Peru. BTS (BTS: RM, Jin, Suga, J-HOPE, Jimin, V, Jungkook) is preparing for their first concert in Peru, and local fans have organized various welcoming events, including planting 2,000 trees. Peruvian ARMY participated in the ″One Million Trees for the Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary″ campaign held in Cusco on March 31, planting about 2,000 native trees such as Aliso, Queñua, and Chachacomo. This forest was named the ″BTS Forest,″ and the National Natural Protected Areas Service introduced their activities in a press release titled ″From Fans to Guardians of Machu Picchu.″ José Carlos Nieto Navarrete, the director, stated, ″We are seeing new participants joining conservation efforts.″ Dayana Cordova, the representative of the Peruvian fan club, said that BTS is a group that has shown commitment to environmental protection, adding, ″As Peruvian ARMY, we wanted to put that message into action. We want to show that together we can create positive change.″ The tree-planting video received over 174,000 likes on TikTok. BTS will hold their world tour ″Arirang″ concerts on the 7th, 9th, and 10th (local time) at Estadio San Marcos in Lima, Peru. This is their first full seven-member concert in Peru, and all three shows are sold out. The members arrived at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima on the afternoon of the 5th after finishing their concert in Bogotá, Colombia. Peruvian ARMY will host a free drone show for BTS at 8 p.m. on the 8th over Costa Verde, the coastal area of Lima, between the first and second concerts. 150 drones will create images including the BTS logo, and on the same day, paragliders will be flown to send messages to the members. This is the first time a BTS drone show has been held in Latin America. The city of Lima is also creating a welcoming atmosphere. From the 5th to the 11th, the Surco district temporarily renamed Sacramento Street to ″Avenida BTS,″ and the district’s landmark, Arco Morisco, was illuminated in purple, the symbolic color of BTS. Carlos Bruce, mayor of Surco, stated, ″We will declare BTS as honored guests of our district. We will welcome them with open arms.″ Video screenings and workshops themed around BTS are also being held at the Fountain Park and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lima. At the concert venue, fans plan to use their phone lights to create the red and white colors of the Peruvian flag for each song. Banners with phrases such as ″Peru will follow BTS into the sun″ will be distributed at the entrance. On the last concert day, the 10th, 30,000 hearts will be distributed in celebration of Jimin’s birthday on the 13th. The Peruvian fan club also conducted the ″ROAD TO 7″ program with local governments and museums before the concerts. Machu Picchu, an ancient Inca city located at an altitude of 2,400 meters, holds special meaning for the BTS members. V has expressed his wish to visit Machu Picchu since 2020, and recently responded on Weverse that ″the place I most want to see is Machu Picchu.″ Jimin has also mentioned Machu Picchu several times.
