Aftermath of KTX CCTV Controversy... Park Wi's Wife Song Ji-eun's First Chuseok Video at In-Laws' House Revisited

Since the controversy over the release of the KTX CCTV footage, family anecdotes and past broadcast content related to Park Wi have been revisited online. Recently, the YouTube channel ’WeeRacle’s 2024 video titled ’First Chuseok Celebrated at the In-Laws’ has been gaining renewed attention on online communities and social media. The video features Song Ji-eun, formerly of the group Secret, spending the holiday at her in-laws’ home for the first time after marriage. Some netizens focused on the tableware arrangement during the meal scene. While Park Wi’s parents, Park Wi himself, and his younger sibling-in-law, actress Yoon So-hee, used the same type of tableware, Song Ji-eun was seen using different dishes. Additionally, online discussions highlighted Park Wi mentioning Yoon So-hee before Song Ji-eun during the pre-meal prayer, the family repeatedly praising Yoon So-hee, who graduated from KAIST, and Park Wi greeting only Yoon So-hee after a video call. In response, opinions such as ″I’ve always found it strange″ and ″Song Ji-eun might have felt hurt″ have emerged, sparking various reactions. A past anecdote Song Ji-eun shared on MBC’s variety show ’Radio Star’ about her mother-in-law also resurfaced. On the show, Song Ji-eun revealed that her future mother-in-law prepared pajamas for her and offered her cherished clothes to take as she wished. While this story was originally received as a warm family gesture, it has been revisited in light of the recent Park Wi controversy. Among netizens, opinions are divided between ″Wouldn’t it have been better to give new clothes as a gift?″ and ″Passing down treasured clothes can be a form of affection,″ as well as ″Criticizing the family over an issue separate from the Park Wi controversy is excessive.″ Meanwhile, last month, Park Wi faced criticism for releasing CCTV footage of an incident during his disembarkation from the KTX, raising concerns about the exposure of a social service worker’s personal information and a lack of consideration. He later issued an apology and deleted the video. He also voluntarily resigned from his position as a Seoul city ambassador.
