tvN’s 20th Anniversary Special Weekend Drama ’100 Days of Lies’ surpassed a 7% viewership rating after just two episodes. According to Nielsen Korea, the second episode aired on the 11th recorded a nationwide paid household rating of 7.6%, ranking first in its time slot across cable and general programming channels. This marks a 2.3 percentage point increase from the 5.3% rating of the premiere episode. In the metropolitan area, the average rating was 8.3%, with a peak of 9.4%. In episode 2, Yoo So-ran (played by Kim Hyun-joo) attempted to assassinate Sato Shinichi (played by Jin Sun-kyu), but the operation faced unexpected complications when Geum Seok-jung (played by Kam Woo-sung), disguised as a cake delivery man, appeared. A shootout broke out between Geum Seok-jung and Sato Hideo (Park Jin Young), during which Suzuki (played by Kim Do-hyun) was shot by Geum Seok-jung and collapsed. Geum Seok-jung lost his gun and was put in danger but narrowly escaped through a window. After the shootout, Lee Ga-kyung (played by Kim Yoo-jung), who had been hiding, was captured by the police. When Governor-General’s Police Bureau Chief Fukuda (played by Kim Jung-hee) questioned Geum Seok-jung’s connections, Sato Hideo testified, ″This woman saved the Chief Political Officer and me,″ protecting Lee Ga-kyung. Yoo Philip (played by Lee Moo-saeng) warned, ″If you keep suspecting us, we will have no choice but to report today’s incident,″ and eventually, Sato Shinichi ordered the police to withdraw. After the operation failed, Yoo So-ran blamed Lee Ga-kyung. Lee Ga-kyung expressed her frustration, saying, ″I never imagined that trying to earn a few bucks would get me involved in the independence movement and almost send me to the afterlife.″ Yoo Philip aimed a gun at Lee Ga-kyung, wary of letting her go, but after Yoo So-ran intervened, only the stolen passport was returned, and Lee Ga-kyung was released. Yoo So-ran revealed that Geum Seok-jung was her husband, from whom she had been separated for 13 years. She said, ″This is Geum Seok-jung. My husband, whom I hadn’t heard from for 13 years... If I could find him, I would want to kill him.″ Yoo So-ran’s past was also unveiled. Thirteen years ago, her husband Geum Seok-jung was captured by the Japanese army while leading the March 1st Movement, and they lost their daughter Geum Seo-hee (played by Park Yoo-ha). It was revealed that the person responsible for the atrocities at that time is the current Chief Political Officer Sato Shinichi. Meanwhile, the relationship between Lee Ga-kyung and Sato Hideo also changed. Sato Hideo did not believe Lee Ga-kyung’s explanation that she was a housekeeper working at Yoo So-ran’s home and pressed her about her true identity. Lee Ga-kyung escaped the scene with Yoo Philip’s help, but suspicion remained unresolved. Yoo So-ran informed the members of the Patriotic Corps at the assembly hall about the failed assassination attempt and asked them to pretend she had a miscarriage due to the shock from the shootout. The next day, Lee Ga-kyung visited Yoo So-ran with seaweed and beef, but after receiving only the cost of the ingredients from Yoo So-ran’s 100 won, she turned away, saying not to meet again. At the Governor-General’s office, a manhunt for Geum Seok-jung began. Upon receiving a report that Han Cheol-ryong (played by Kim In-kwon), a key member of the Patriotic Corps, had returned from Shanghai, Sato Shinichi ordered, ″This is our chance to root out the Patriotic Corps.″ He assigned Sato Hideo to act as a temporary English interpreter in place of Suzuki and instructed him to keep an eye on Yoo Philip. At the end of the broadcast, Lee Ga-kyung encountered Sato Hideo again at a pawnshop in Jongno, where she had gone to sell bullets. Sato Hideo caught her and said, ″Got you, pickpocket,″ sparking interest in the upcoming developments. ’100 Days of Lies’ airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 PM.
